I'm undecided on the new England kit, but let's be honest — we all know what I'm like when it comes to shirts, I'll most likely be getting myself one anyway.

I like it. If Peter Saville designed it, it must be awesome!

4-0 and a great strike from Defoe to seal his hattrick.
Surely England are now tournament favourites?

So just a quick post from me, a bit busy at the moment, but its basically certain that Leeds are going up this season.

My sources suggest we only let Beckford go to let everyone else have a chance.

We did sign basically a whole new team though. And they're all better than what we had before.

We looked like Brazil against Millwall too which was very surprising and also fantastic.

Bring on Swansea

I reckon we're odds on for the next World Cup, too. Anyone who suggests otherwise is at best unpatriotic and at worst French.

Somehow I think you've set this up for me but I won't rise to it, you eenglish rosbif, sacrebleu!

We should have won the Lithuania game so perhaps disappointed with the draw but going by recent performances it's actually a good result. Bring on Liechtenstein! Nice confidence builder before we meet... errmmm Spain next month.

Sorry, I should have course have said...

;)

Anyway, do you ever get the feeling that someone's taking the piss a bit? I ask because I've been having a read through our freshly delivered copy of FourFourTwo, and they've got a new section where top players and managers offer advice on various aspects of the game.

This month features none other than former Tigers' Temporary Part-Time Chap Iain Dowie, offering his sage advice on both how coaches can instil confidence in their charges, and how teams can defend set pieces effectively. 'Opposition forwards won't stand a chance', the facially challenged gaffer boasts.

It's a pity you couldn't have put these ideas into practice a few months back Iain, then we might not have been relegated you great useless, ugly pillock. :p

It is, however, interesting to note that Uruguay played a 4-4-2 for much of the tournament. They had an outstanding strike partnership in Suarez and Forlan.

true but in that 4-4-2 the strikers where cavani and suarez and forlan playing behind them in classical playmaker role
the 3 other midfielders where all workhorse DMs
and they beat ghana only close who also played with 2 great DMs

Yeah, the term is pretty over-used. Michael Bradley was originally billed as more of a defensive midfielder, but he often gets involved in attacks while our second DM (such as Ricardo Clark) is generally much less likely to go forward. These days players are generally more fit, but you still see players like Xabi Alonso who are certainly not box-to-box players - he'll take long shots but he's most useful for beginning or developing attacks and maintaining possession, not making runs.

true thats the bread and butter for a DM: denying the crucial space in front of the central defense, winning balls in tackles, intercepting passes and playing low risk passes to the wings or full backs and getting the balls out of trouble
if they also dictate the tempo of the game, can play killer passes directly into the strikers and can also go into forward dribblings you end up with a great DM

Seems like the Bundesliga has been picking up some big names in the last several years in particular. Is there more money available these days? It seems that fashionably alternative side St. Pauli have not started well.

well TV money increased but still only about 1/3 of what a EPL club gets.. St.Pauli is always a fan favorite but honestly they aren't exactly known for their great playing elegance or technical play ;)
i expect that around 10 clubs will be battleing for the european starting spots

i think i like club football better than international ...
Apart from today's result of course. Same old Wednesday. Even when top of the league and having not lost a league game, we still manage to lose to the bottom of the league club

What are Ipswitch doing near the top of the table? They've started brilliantly...

Dirk Kuyt injured shoulder ligaments while attempting a bicycle kick in training with the Netherlands. Doh!

Part of me wants us to go into adminstration, just to get it over and done with. Perhaps then we can actually get some investment in the club and get rid of several idiots who call themselves 'the board'.
On the other hand, it's a shame it has come to this and I don't want a 10 point deduction. We're in with a good shout of being one of the host grounds for 2018 and for the past few seasons we have been trying to live within our means, unlike other clubs such as Portsmouth, Cardiff and Palace.

Andorra have scored in Dublin. Yes, you heard me: Andorra have scored. Oh dear. ;)

The biggest problem with football clubs is that, when things are going badly on the business end, it's almost always the board's fault and yet they are the most difficult part of the club to remove.

Yes! Let us laugh at the fools for allowing a team of minnows score against them!

Edit:
******* me that was embarrassing, needed the 7th minute of the 5 minutes added on (i.e. time added on to let Man Utd win) to score the winner against Lichtenstein. I was near suicidal.
