Traditionally, if a player crosses Sir Alex his days at Old Trafford are numbered. Real Madrid are supposedly interested if the rumours are to be believed, so we'll have to see what happens...
Well, the news is certainly full of it today, with Rooney's agents apparently saying he won't sign a new contract with Man U. In other news:
Columbus Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer scored a late equaliser to earn his side a 2-2 draw away at Toronto in their Major League Soccer game at the weekend.

DO tell! :)

Same ole rubbish from my team so far this season! (Coventry City). It looked hopeful for us for a few weeks but then it often does at the start of the season and then gradually deteriorates as the season progesses.

Then the team go and do that.

Alex Ferguson please come to the Customer Desk, Alex Ferguson to the Customer Desk - we have a lost midfield. Sell Rooney, buy two midfielders - please remember Benzema has similar pastimes.

I'm sure Fizzoid is aware of Sheffield Wednesday's form, but it gets a mention in The Times (the game) League One Stat of the weekend; the leading scorers away from home but the joint* lowest scorers at home.

* Tranmere Rovers - currently bottom

Cheers,
OW

And we got to host Football Focus as well. It's the bigtime for us, make no mistake! :p

The only thing that's consistant with Sheffield Wednesday is their ability to be inconsistant :)

I guess the embarassment of being beaten by Leeds was too much ;)

Never rated Strachen tbh, he just moans and whinges about everything else being at fault.

Strachan off to Anfield?

As for Blackburn Rovers v Sunderland, hopefully 1-1; own goals by Samba and El-Mohamady - who get sent off for fighting, plus a penalty save by Robinson. Seems fair.;)

Only fair if you want to see me drop drastically even further down the FF rankings :p

Of course, if they fancy appointing another Scot our very own Fuzzy is perfectly placed to take control at the Riverside.

It would work out well until some Middlesbrough supporters dig around on the football threads and found out what he's been saying about their town. ;)

With us having such a dismal end to the season, I'll take anything positive I can get. Well done Hesmer! Way to rescue a point at the death....it figures that despite having four fit strikers we need the keeper to save our butts (not to mention that center back Chad Marshall scored our other goal). We probably could have gotten the same result by playing a 4-6-0. Too bad we didn't have him healthy for the Open Cup Final.

[CHANT]WILL-IAM HES-MER!!! *THUMP THUMP THUMP-THUMP-THUMP*[/CHANT] :D

Champions League action for us during the week, in Trinidad & Tobago. I think we look set to make it out of the group stage but we are playing so badly now I just don't know what the point is.

I've never gone into the box before, it's my first time ever.

Perhaps Fergie should consider Hesmer as a more straight-laced replacement for the philandering Rooney? :D

Shhhh......! I'm in hiding!

The writing has been on Strachan's wall for a while. He's spent an awful lot of money for no results. And as pointed out, he's brought a lot of players from the SPL who just can't cut it in the Championship. Strachan's with his witty comments are amusing at first, but when te pressure is on people want explanations and not his one-liners. The local rag (who sook right up to Boro) finally turned on him after the Leeds game and I actually think that was quite decisive.

I don't really rate him as a manager, he'll be doing punditry quite soon and that will be amusing. And no I don't want the job I am trying to get my ass out of here asap and I expect a lot of the McPlayers to be following me quite soon after.

Quite a few pundits have half-seriously called Stratchan's Middlesbrough an experiment in bringing SPL teams into the English league system. What do you think about that? They really don't have enough of a Scottish contingent to make that claim, but do you think that Stratchan tried to build an SPL-style team out of Middlesbrough?

Then the solution is clear, make an enemy of the local paper and they'll run you out of town in no time. :)

Of course, the only plus point in Middlesbrough's favour is that Dean Windass played there for a spell. I mention this, because he's now going to be playing somewhere else for a spell.

He's signed for non-League Scarborough Athletic – the Seadogs are currently playing at mine and Fizzoid's second favourite ground Queensgate, which they share with Bridlington Town. It'll be great to see Deano plying his trade on the hallowed but slightly sandy turf, but it's a pity it's for Scarborough and not Brid. :(

Rooney to City?....and we all thought the Tevez move was big...

City's name came up almost as soon as the "Rooney to leave United" story broke, but the sensationalism of it is just too good to be true, right?

Real have plenty of money but when it comes down to it, I don't think anyone can really outbid City if the sheik wants a player bad enough.

At Liverpool's John Lennon Airport there's a statue in memory of the former Beatle, on which is quoted a line from 'Imagine' saying "above us only sky".

Someone (possibly clad in blue?) has added the line: "and below us only West Ham..." :D

It has been the running joke, McBoro as they've recently been called, but Strachan only used the SPL to snap up some players familiar to him on the cheap. I don't think he was seriously trying to build an all-Scots team.

The SPL lost a lost of players to Blackpool over the last two years and look what happened to them! So there will be a lot of comments about Scottish flops but they'll be there for at least another year so lets see what happens to them.

We've also been rather negative about Scottish football recently about lack of talent and depth, but at the game v Spain nine of the squad were players based in the English Premier League (apparently quite a decent league, according to self publicity) so maybe we're not that bad after all.

The one saving grace about Strachan is he walked away without any kind of severance pay from Boro, he's viewing it as a personal failure and isn't out to get any more money from them.

Well, some of it was right, Samba did indeed get sent off

Some good skills there, rather than the normal net bulging blast you see keepers do.

In other news, SAF has indeed confirmed Rooney wants to leave Man U
I must say, when I heard it was going to be mentioned in a press conference it was pretty much confirmed, as if there was no truth in it I believe SAF would have simply ignored it as there was nothing to say.

I'm guessing Rooney has an offer already and I'd guess from Spain not PL it's up to Man U to get as good a price as possible.Time for another change and possibly a season of regrouping.I'm a little concerned that Fergie may say "stuff this for a game of soldiers" and head for the horses.

Rooney has been quoted as saying he doesn't want to play abroad. Not sure if that's still the case however. Not many PL teams will be able to afford him. I think there'd be uproar if he went to City and I can see Fergie calling it a day if that was the case.

Rooney's also been quoted as saying "he'll never leave United".

(I think it's possible Coleen is calling the shots)

I think it will be Man City or Real. Rooney isnt the type of person to be bothered in the slightest about what the fans think if he went to Man City. He shows disdain towards the fans so its not as if he is bothered about them.

I don't think Rooney would be bothered but I can see Fergie not wanting to sell him to City on principal. Look at what happend to Heinze and Liverpool.

Ferguson will want to leave on a high/team in good shape. As for principles, if Manchester City offer GBP 20 million more, it will be taken.

How much for Rooney? GBP 5 million loophole? GBP 30 million? I think Everton get a cut above about GBP 27 million. If he goes to Real Madrid, they will try to offload Benzema.:( If it's Manchester City, try a cheeky Hart + Johnson + GBP 15 million. Whatever happens, get the midfield sorted.

Cheers,
OW
