New York Cosmo's... isn't that what Carrie Bradshaw and her friends always order when they go out drinking?

Bolton have signed David Wheater rather cheaply, that's a good bit of business for Owen Coyle. It also means I won't be able to get any freebies at the Riverside.:(

It also looks like Birmingham won't be signing Rangers striker Kenny Miller, he's probably off to Turkey.

So, in a bit of a merry-go-round, Bent has gone to Villa, so Carew has gone to Stoke (on load) and it looks like Fuller is going to Sunderland...

Can only see Villa being happy really, and Bent's bank balance. He's basically moved to a club currently flirting with relegation. Carew is past his best, seems lazy and just happy to accept a large wage packet, and Fuller, while a good squad player, never really has cut it, and he's no spring chicken either.

^ see my earlier post, I work (and live) with loads of Sunderland fans. They aren't happy! I've been sent loads of inappropriate jokes that I can't post here.

He's only been in gainful employment for a fortnight, but Phil Brown's at it again – this time upsetting Fuzzy's Teeside chums and prompting Preston to issue a public apology.

In a press interview given yesterday, the Preston North End manager Phil Brown stated that there were rumours that the Middlesbrough players were unsettled, as they had not been paid their salaries on time.

Phil realises that the comment was both untrue and unnecessary. He wishes to apologise unreservedly to the Middlesbrough club and retract the statement.

The reference to rumours was part of a long interview and the reference to the Middlesbrough players and their salaries was a thoughtless and unnecessary comment.

Preston North End have apologised to Middlesbrough for these remarks.
Heh. :D

I think Bent is a good buy for Villa - not cheap, mind you, but if he continues to score as often as he has been, you can't really argue with the move. Villa need a goalscorer, and Bent is a goalscorer. Apart from the money though, it's not really an upward move for Bent, is it?

As to accusations that he's a mercenary...well, of course he is! All footballers are, except for the ones that play for free.

Brilliant. :)

I predict another draw before Kenny actually records his first win - the same scenario as the Blackpool one, an away win at Wolves after losing to them at home.

Geez, I'm good. ;)

I don't know if Kenny even needs to buy the handball king from Ajax. He seems to have gotten Torres firing again.

...and they played well too.

Utd still marching on, West Ham just cannot get a break and Sunderland are having one heck of a season.

Now if only City would lose...

Liverpool have actually won a game and kept a clean sheet.

He's now scored on his Premier League debut for Villa, Sunderland and Charlton, stat fans.

I just swapped in a new striker to my fantasy squad yesterday....my first impulse was to buy the hype and bring in Bent, but I figured that was too obvious and went for Odemwingie instead.

Good win for Villa, bad result for everyone else as Man United create more distance at the top. Arsenal are still in it, but Man City is now 9 points back. Where was City's attack today?

Well, £18m man Darren Bent must have heard you :)

I must say, I am really looking forward to work on Monday!

Rangers were 2 points behind with two games in hand. Unfortunately Hearts, who are currently on blistering form, have made it 5 points behind with 2 in hand. Dare I say it, Hearts are about to split the Old Firm and become contenders for the title.

I woudn't automatically allocate them the full 9 points as Utd will have to work for it. One of Man Utd's games in hand is the postponed Chelsea one, so they still have to play Chelsea twice. And they still have to play the second derby with City as well so they can lose their current 3 point advantage as well.

Arsenal's in a technically better position at this point having already gotten both their matches with Chelsea and Man City out of the way, so the title may be decided by the '6 pointer' as Wenger calls them, on April 30 at Ashburton Grove when Man Utd visit Arsenal. Utd play their second match against Chelsea the following weekend which is the second-last match of the season, so I'm predicting they will have to beat Arsenal to guarantee the title as a draw may not be enough if they fail to beat Chelsea. Arsenal may very well be Champions this season, not at all what I expected a few weeks in when Chelsea and Man City were running away with it. :D

Most neutrals are probably rooting for Arsenal. As a Liverpool fan, I'd much rather see them win than United, that's for sure.

At the risk of oversimplifying, I think the title race comes down to just two men: Ferdinand and Vidic. United's midfield is average, their attack is good but not great, but their defense is excellent, anchored by Ferdinand and Vidic. If those two stay on form and avoid injuries, United will win the title.

USA drew 1-1 with Chile yesterday in a match that was notable only for the introduction of a couple teenage prospects, and for the fact that Chile's manager, Marcelo Bielsa, may be on his way out. That's a shame considering how entertaining Bielsa's Chile were in South Africa - they were perhaps the only truly attacking side out there.

I'll be somewhat surprised if Gray and Keyes manage to keep theoir jobs over this...seems to be a pretty flagrant no-no.

Liverpool are after Blackpool's Charlie Adams, but Holloway was insulted at our first bid for him. He seems a decent player, but Blackpool is not the team I would have expected Liverpool to be raiding for players, despite their good form.

Looks like Ajax want £25 million for Suarez. Given his scoring record I think that's a fair valuation, although his strike partner for Uruguay (Diego Forlán) did not take well to the English game, depsite being an outstanding player everywhere else. I think we should fork out the money, we need a striker like Suarez and he's only 24. Come on Henry, show us the money...
