As 2010 draws to a close, several sites are posting their 2010 year in review articles. In honor of the end of the year, we've compiled this collection of the biggest Apple leaks in 2010.

iPhone 4

The biggest leak of 2010 was, of course, the iPhone 4 leak. The story goes that an Apple engineer had left the prototype device in a bar where it was picked up by an individual who eventually sold the device to Gizmodo. The site then went on to disassemble and detail the then unreleased iPhone 4 for all to see. Perhaps even stranger is the fact that another lost iPhone 4 appeared in Vietnam a month later.

iPad

Perhaps the biggest rumor of 2010 was Apple's move into the tablet space with the iPad. This image leaked the night before the big announcement presumably from someone with access to Apple's pre-event setup location.

Steam

Not an Apple product leak, and not really even a leak as this was actually an official teaser sent out to sites, the arrival of Steam for Mac was one of the biggest 3rd party announcements in 2010.

iPod Nano

No one was exactly sure what Apple was planning on using this 3x3cm touch screen for at the time of leak, but it eventually made its way into the multi-touch iPod nano that was released two months later.

Magic Trackpad

MacBook Air

We'd heard some credible rumors that the MacBook Air would see a major revision with an "blade"-style SSD drive, and, sure enough, photos confirmed it just days later.

4th Generation iPod Touch

Chinese part suppliers seem to be the biggest point of failure for Apple's secrecy. Numerous images of the 4th generation iPod Touch with front-facing camera were leaked prior to its launch.

With so many eyes on Apple these days, we expect we'll continue to see and hear about Apple's new products in the weeks to months in advance.

I suspect that as Apple grows, the leaks will grow as well. They're fighting a losing battle when it comes to keeping everything top secret.

The sheer number of leaks has made the last few Stevenotes a little less special... I really like hearing it straight from Steve first (which is why I always do spoiler free,)

Although it wasn't until he presenting the iPhone 4 himself that I was sold on the design... it had looked ugly in all the leaks but somehow seeing that man hold it made it look beautiful.

you serious?

on topic 2010 has had a lot of good leaks. Hope 2011 is the same.

I think the iPhone 4 could be the biggest product leak ever.

Speaking of leaks, I certainly peed my pants when they announced it. :D

Actually, I didn't - don't even own one. But I bet a LOT of people did.

iPhone was huge. Easily one of the biggest tech stories of the year. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the upcoming iPhone and iPad in relation to what and how much leaks out.

I'll never forget the crazy hype and anticipation before the iPad announcement. It was intense.
Then after the announcement, all the negativity against it on these forums. Hell, it's still around a little.

Great year for Apple products and rumors.

To borrow from Mr Dickens, I'm more interested in 'the leaks of things to come'.

Apple just needs to feed the press with fake leaked images and false rumors to make the keynotes more fun. If they cant prevent images prototypes and cases to get out then they need to make it hard to know what is true and what not.

I would not mind if somehow an 7 inch iPad v2 would get lost in a Cupertino strip club or antoher fantasy iPhone 5 case would appear on Gizmodo. :D

Great year for Apple products and rumors.

There are many things I will never forget, but one of them will not be the forum reaction to the iPad in January 2010.

The iPhone 4 fiasco wasn't a leak. It was a FAIL on Apple's engineering. Failure to protect the prototype from being LEFT BEHIND at a bar. That's not a leak.

Leaks are actual useful information about an upcoming product. Saying a verizon iPhone is coming is not a leak. They've been saying it for 3 years! Eventually, it may become true, but that doesn't mean the leak was right!

iPad 2 having a camera? Puh-lease! Talk about the obvious!

Magic trackpad? Haven't heard anything about it since it came out. Must be a great seller.
