I'm not sure it's confidence - what's he got to be confident about? He got lapped after leading in Spain. He certainly seems settled, but the lack of a quick car must be pulling him apart.

i think alonso could have quite a good shot: the ferrari has a good pace when driving with full fuel tanks early in the race and monaco is a notoriously difficult track to overtake
also it is the track where aerodynamic has the smallest effect on the cars, and pure engine power has a bigger impact on the race:
thus red bull is at a disadvantage since the renault isn't quite on the same power level as the mercedes engine and even the ferrari engine

also KERS might be a bigger impact and Alonso is one of the best drivers in managing it

most importantly though: monaco is still very much a 'drivers' race and i would still rate him as one of the best drivers (just look what performance he gets out of the car compared to Massa)

The Lotus saga should be over today.

The verdict on whether Team Lotus is allowed to use the 'Lotus' name in F1 and also whether or not the team was in breach of the licensing deal that it originally had with Group Lotus will be made public at 2pm today.

I wonder how much time they be given to de-brand if they lose the case, might we see Caterham on the grid at Monaco on Sunday?

agreed, imo, it's the most boring track. this race will come down tires and pits.

RB still has issues with their KERS

you can't compare alonso and massa, alonso is in a different league. massa sucks, on a bad car or in the rain he sucks worse. ;)

Partial loss for Team Lotus (although the above is a Group Lotus statement so obviously stated in their favour) but both teams can keep running as the various Lotus incarnations we have now:p

It's looks like it's not over yet.

Well yes. As Team Lotus won the right to continue competing as Team Lotus. And to keep the chassis Lotus name. So the Group Lotus sponsored car can't actually be called a Lotus as it's not got a Lotus chassis...

I know it is an important race for some but it looks like a pretty boring to me. Hope it's not dull - lots of hype but not a real race.

The fact that Hamilton is forced to sit behind MSC is a case in point.

Of course Hamilton ignores me and passes anyway :)

He made the pass. And it was exciting.

"was" exciting is the reality of Monaco - a few moments each time the race is run.

Vettel 2 seconds a lap slower, Alonso and Button cannot get past and then a red flag.

Will the faster cars get past in those final laps - I doubt it, but I do hope so.

BBC: "Why do you think you're so magnetic to the stewards? Why do you think that it's... you obviously feel that you're being targeted?"

Lewis Hamilton: "Maybe it's because I'm black. Hah, that's what Ali G says. I don't know."

Saw that on the F1 Fan Forum, he's often brilliant... but wow. Just wow.

Shame Petrov's accident killed the race cold... it was shaping up beautifully. :(

Oh come on. There was tones of interest and excitement in that race.

:D:D:D eggsactly:D:D:D:D "Tones" of interest - but not "Tonnes".

Its really interesting at Monaco - honest. It is a parade and not much else. Great challenge for the drivers - but not really a race.

Thought the race was pretty exciting. What's with Hamilton contact/hitting a bunch of folks? Glad that Vitali seems to be ok, crash looked a bit ugly. I'm glad that they did restart the race BUT thought that allowing changing to new tires was lame. They should have run what they had (yeah, I know that it was within the rules but it <IMHO> gave the race to Vettel...maybe he would have held on with old tires but maybe not. With new, he just lead the parade.). If they wanted new tires, pit. Red Bull had an interesting strategy with just a single pit stop but it would have been VERY interesting to see how Alonso and Button would have worked things with slightly better and MUCH better tires. Well, Le Mans is coming.....GO AUDI!:D

the last few laps (3-4) before the red flag one could already see that alonso had very bad tires as well and couldn't challenge Vettel anymore so i suspect it would have been much up wether button could take on alonso
