It's obviously not been completely decided yet, as robbieduncan suggested. The right thing to do would be not to hold the race. Webber's statement sends the right message - I hope the FIA & FOTA take the same tack. This is not just a question of money but also of moral principles - something the FIA has a spotty track record with.

It's been a pretty competitive season in many ways, it would be a shame to spoil it with dodgy politics and greed...

Are teams able to boycott races, I'm sure there is some small hidden legal block stopping them. Would there be a weird situation were only a few teams turn up, a repeat of when only three teams raced due to poor tyre qualty.

jarno was on pole... =(

Maybe they can http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13678125.stm

Apparently all teams need to agree to a change - lets hope someone stands up and says no, and voices their reasons why.

If moral principles really were important... F1 wouldn't be racing in China for a start.

It'll be very interesting to see what FOTA have to say in their statement later today.

A completely bogus pole if ever there was one. Or to put it another way, he would've been properly screwed on race day wouldn't he... when he had to pit for fuel at the end of lap 1. ;)

FOTA requests a delay, but doesn't rule out racing later in the season.

I think everyone will probably agree, that this is a somewhat disappointing response from the teams.

You are of course 100% correct. People locked up for years without trial - I won't watch that GP again.

On a side note - did I read somewhere that the USA GP is back on?

Couldn't agree more. But you have to start somewhere. Hope springs eternal that someday large international sports organizations like the FIA (and FIFA, as a topical example) actually do something right for once.

Maybe FOTA can step up and show a little humanity.

In Texas, no less - a state that executes people at the drop of a ten-gallon hat.

I wonder if there will ever be a GP in Cuba

Well, if you base your decision to host GPs strictly on human rights records, the season would look like this:

Canadian GP
Belgian GP
Canadian GP
Belgian GP

Belgian GP

Well, at least every second GP at Spa would be great.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D - I thought the drivers could all wear orange jumpsuits if there was a Cuban GP

Is the Canadian GP going to be broadcasted here in the US? I've been watching it on Speed, but it looks like this one isn't going to be broadcasted.

It will be on Fox, as it has been for the past several years. The next 3 races (I believe) will also be on Fox

Thanks. I just Googled the schedule. I had no idea it would be on Fox. They are on Fox until the German GP, then Speed throughout the season again.

Calling the race off was the right move, but FOTA avoided talking about the political unrest and simply cited logistical issues. Business as usual.

Any predictions to a pole and winner to the Canadian GP?

Hopefully someone else to win and open up the season a bit.
