My Macbook Pro has 2x 6Gb/s SATA 3 as well, only got it 4 days ago though. Bit busy to find out how to get into IO Registry Explorer, as i understand it, it is part of the Apple Dev tools. Just to point out my machine has the MATSHITADVD-R UJ-898 OD and it is a Hi-Res Model 15".

I got mine last month and its showing a 6 and a 3

HR glossy screen here.

From the chipmunk website:

Group1: MacBook
Group2: Pro
Generation: 82
Production year: 2011
Production week: 17 (April)
CPU speed: 2.3GHz
Screen size: 15 inch
Screen resolution: 1680x1050 pixels
Colour: Aluminium
Factory: C0 (Quanta Computer (Susidiary = Tech Com))

Some reason sees 2.3GHz when it is 2.2GHz though. I also have the 898 DVD burner.

No issues with C300 at 6Gbps in the HDD bay though, TRIM enabled. Using an adaptor for the optical bay with the 750GB stock drive at 3Gbps.

You a lucky dog. I couldn't get my C300 to work in my 17" to save my life. I ended up getting a Vertex 3, which works fine and moving the C300 to the CD/DVD bay.

Apple released a firmware update today for 2011 models. I wonder if it'll help with these issues?

Nope. Not for me anyway. One thing that did seem to change is that the NIC comes up faster. I have several SMB shares that connect on startup and up til now the first one or sometimes two would fail because it was trying to connect before the interface was up.

I just rebooted 3x and it nailed them all every time.

yeah, i was hoping against all odds that the firmware update would fix the 3g in the OD, but sadly it still is 3g.

built march 10. 2.3ghz, hires, 15".

Six gigabit all around here

I have a CTO 2.2GHz/antiglare delivered April 4, shipped at the end of March, and it has six gigabit on both interfaces.

I've got a 17", BTO ordered March 24th, and it's got 6/3 with UJ-898 optical drive.

Slightly disappointed that it's not SATA III, but I'd likely never use it anyways, I use the optical drive too much at this point.

Seems as if some of the 6/6 models have optical drive issues. There was another user that posted somewhere that his new MBP couldn't boot to any CD's except for OS X discs. Perhaps there's some connection there, perhaps there isn't, kind of an odd coincidence at this point in time however. Thread here:

Perhaps the 6Gbps connections aren't actually supposed to be there?

My 15" MacBook Pro is connected to 6Gbps for both.
Its Link Speed for both is 6 Gigabit, while the 'Negotiated' Link Speed is 3 and 1.5 Gigabit respectively.
Just got it 20th April. So maybe the latter/newer MacBook Pro use both 6Gbps connector?
:apple:

2 x 6g SATA?

Can anyone claiming to have two 6g SATA III ports in their MacBook Pro please send a screenshot of how they know this? Seems to me that some people might be mistaken. If someone can show me in the next few days, I'll be taking mine back to the store and doing a BTO to try to get one.

Check post #69. It'd be nice if some others could post screenshots of System Profiler showing their 6Gbps optical bay port.

Will do in a second but from what I am reading it seams hi res = 6/6
Either that or new hi res models.

I think somebody had a recent hi-res model with 6/3. Is your hi-res anti-glare or glossy?

I have a 17" MBP hi-res anti-glare - 6/3:

Mines glossy and 15" so far everyone that has a 15" glossy hi res I have seen is 6/6

I'm about to pull the trigger on getting a Hi-Res Glossy MBP, but can't decide if I should get a 3GB/s SSD from Apple, or a 6GB/s aftermarket.

I would love to see screenshots of the 6GB/s link in the optical bay. That would make my decision a lot easier.

Bad luck codymac. Perhaps then it's hi-res models built recently that are using the latest parts bin or are just configured differently. We need more data.

Yeah. FWIW, mine shows ports 0 & 2.

For now, I just kind of figure by the time I switch to SSD and end up with two SSDs, it will be time for a new MBP anyway.

I got two orders of MBP's in at work, the ones from 3 months ago are all 6-3 the ones from a month ago are all 6-6. All of them 15in hi-res 2.2GHz

It's just luck of the draw for the next month or two till the older models all sold off.

Any 17" MacBooks with two 6G ports?

I'm seeing 15" with a 6G optical bay, but nothing from 17" users. Can anyone confirm a 17" with two 6G ports?
