All you guys exchanging - do you have to return the original and completely rebuy or do they just send another one out after you box the old one up?

Just bought a base 13inch i5 model from oakridge in Vancouver BC....

128 samsung and samsung screen... I didn't care which models I got.. the difference is so small, the average person wouldn't know the difference.

People are exchange their toshiba's and LG screens hoping to get a Samsung... that's ridiculous. I own a Vertex 3 and crucial c300 SSD... the difference in speed on benchmarks are huge... but in real world situations you wouldn't notice a single thing. write/read speeds are only couple seconds difference.

If this site wasn't available, the people here who took back their toshiba SSD would love their toshiba SSD without knowing it.

I got the two **** ones, and you know what? I don't give a crap.

amazing screen, very fast, I couldn't be more happy with it. I think it is actually kind of pathetic that people are returning there macbook airs just because a few STATS and other programs say it isn't as good.

in reality there probably isn't that much difference when using it in real life.

13 inch ultimate.

SSD: SM256C
Display: LTH133BT01A03

I think the ultimate machines are more likely to have Samsung SSDs. I can't tell a difference between the Samsung and LG LCDs. Of course, can't tell the difference between a Samsung and Toshiba SSD either.

I have the 13" base and originally had the Toshiba SSD and LG display, but I exchanged because it had dark patches at the bottom of the screen. The replacement model i got has the Samsung SSD and display.
I can't tell any difference with the SSD, but i did feel that the screen was noticeably nicer from the moment i turned it on.

Now that my screen is perfect and i'm also happy that i've got the double samsung combo, i now have a creaky/clicky macbook air. My previous MBA did make a slight click/creak when moved, but not as much and as loud as this one. I don't want to return it because i'm afraid that a replacement i get would be defective in some other way and i want to keep the double samsung combo. So i've ordered the 5 point petalobe screwdriver from iFixit and will loosen the screws and reseat the bottom cover.

Hello, I just bought my first ever Mac (MBA 13") and came up with the Toshiba SSD (APPLE SSD TS256C) and this for the display: LTH133BT01A03.

Is that LG or Samsung?

I also have some additional questions:

  • What would be a good software to run SSD benchmarks on my Macbook?
  • How can I spot dead pixels?

Thank you very much!

13", i5, 128GB (base 13" model) - Bought on 8/12/2011 at the Eaton Centre Apple Store in Toronto.

Display and SDD are both Samsung.

I am thinking about changing to 256GB but I'm afraid to end up with non-samsung hardware.

11" i5 128G/4GB.

SM128C & LTH116AT01A04.

Purchased at Apple store a few days ago in Sacramento, CA.

Replaced my 2010 MBA 11" Ultimate with this BTO 2011 Core i7 4GB 128GB 11".

Display:LP116WH4-TJA3

SSD:APPLE SSD SM128C

Seems like I got the good SSD this time. Not sure about the display. Looks good to me

I've gone thru 3 13" MBA 256 GB SSD

The first one was a 13" MBA Ultimate. Got a Samsung Panel and a Toshiba SSD.

The next two were i5 13" MBA and both had Samsung Panels and SSDs.

I returned the Ultimate because I bought it the first day out and didn't use my wife's student discount. The second time around I decided to down grade to the i5 since I was just going to use the MBA mostly for web surfing. I returned that because I was able to order the same model with the Kindle Special Offers coupon for $1230.

i got samsung 256gb ssd and LG screen :)
i'm very satisfied.. though the screen looks horrible compared to my 27 inch hazro <3 i use on my desktop

i won't be crying about the monitor or ssd performance.. because i don't have anything slower or faster to compare it to.. well apart from my out of league desktop pc.. wouldn't be fair :p

Just took delivery of my new 11" i5 128 SSD

Samsung SSD and LG Display. The display looks as good if not better then my 2010 13" Samsung. It probably is just the increased PPI, I am not sure what all the fuss is about on the LG screen.

Got a 13" base, was SM128C / LG panel. It got replaced due to creaking, with a SM128C/LG panel again. Returned, needed more space, got a 13" ultimate and its a SM256C / LG panel. Will enter in Google spreadsheet.
