When I was researching the 2011 15" MacBook Pro with HR matte screen, I thought designers on the Apple discussion forums were saying they preferred the LG displays because the whites were more accurate. I might be mistaken, but even if not, these are different displays/sizes. Does anyone know what I'm referring to?

Reading the threads it seems the Samsung has better viewing angles, but the difference is not that much.

Why worry about this, when you can upgrade to an SSD from OWC that's both bigger and better? Is Apple soldering the SSD in now after all?

256gb is enough. And who in their right mind would pay for OWC ridiculous prices?!

Is the Samsung screen really better or is it a matter of opinion?

both screens are about equal quality. I'm guessing most people would prefer a samsung panel because samsung is known to make great HDTV panels.

11" 1.8GHz Core i7:Samsung SSD SM256C, LP116WH4-TJA3 display on mine.

There seems to be a pattern. Samsung SSDs with Philips displays, or Toshiba SSDs with the 9CDF display.

LG seems to ring a bell for that particular display.

If you've ever got a Samsung display before you'll be able to tell the difference. If not, then you have nothing to compare it to, so all is good :)

Just checked my display through terminal and it spat out LTH116AT01A04 which I'm guessing is Samsung actually!

Not always. Mine has both made by Samsung.

Here's for my 13" Ultimate. Are they both Samsung?
