worry about your own team :p you can't pitch CC for all 5 or 7 games in the playoffs.
Aside from Burnett our pitching staff isn't that bad. Nova is a bonafide number 2 starter. And who has a 2.5 game lead in first?

You need to worry about Beckett, and your own train wreck Lackey.

Without Howard,Utley,Rollins and Ibanez the Phils take game one of four against the Brew Crew. Doc,Cliff Lee and the " KID " are next ;):D

With Mo now one away from breaking the record, I think Girardi should put Jorge behind the plate depending on the situation( score, the batters speed if he gets on, etc). I think it would be appropriate and it throws Posada a bone sort of speak to show how much the organization and fans appreciate his time with the team( seeing how this is most likely his final year with the Yankees unless he is willing to take a good pay cut and accept a bench role).

Dibs on the blonde.

And in the spirit of this weekend's series:

anyone hear that distinct choking sound coming out of the back bay for the past week or so?

That is one thing I don't get about baseball. It's looked down upon if a batter shows up a pitcher when he hit a HR. But, it's ok if the pitcher celebrates striking out the batter.

You're right...it makes no sense. Problem is, most of those guys don't get a chance to swing the bat. I have a feeling if Pap or Valverde got a chance to step into a batter's box multiple times a year, they would be shown how obnoxious their antics are.

I kind of feel like it's a double-standard. I don't know that it's necessarily or better or worse than the days when players didn't really celebrate anything. They also didn't tend to react very strongly when they were brushed back from the plate. It was just considered part of the job.

I like that there's more celebrating now, but I think it has to be consistent too. Eckersley used to do that fist pump after every final out, regardless of who the hitter was. Throwing the helmet off and group-hugging at home plate after a walkoff hit seems OK to me too. But pause to admire your solo home run that causes your team to be down 6-2 instead of 6-1? It should be thrown at your head next time because that's just unsportsmanlike. This is the kind of thing that umpires should let the players police themselves on.
