Am I the only one a bit disappointed that the i7 processor isn't even standard with the best 27"?

I don't really want to pay extra for an upgraded processor, you pay £1600 for a computer you expect it to have the updated processor.

Is it worth the money to upgrade to i7, what do you reckon?

So it looks like the RAM is not user serviceable. Looks like in the cutaway they stuck it right behind the power cord. Maybe apple will wake up and drop the prices on their own RAM... ugh. I want 32gb... but I refuse to buy RAM from apple at their current pricing.

In SPECS it says there are 4 user accessible RAM slots :S

27"
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

Configurable to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX with 2GB of GDDR5 memory.

1TB (7200-rpm) hard drive

Configurable to 3TB hard drive, 1TB or 3TB Fusion*Drive, or 768GB of flash storage.

the store is back, but I can't pre-order or even see BTO options?! I just have to sit here and look at it for a month and a half and try to hold onto my money?! :)

That's the way it's always been.

For the 27" only

8GB (two 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory; four user-accessible SO-DIMM slots

Configurable to 16GB or 32GB.

Get in!

It appears that the 27" model includes user-accessible RAM slots, but the 21" does not

Am actually really happy right now with the option for 680 and still hoping the ram is serviceable. Those two things and i'll be a happy man.

Anyone care to explain the fusiondrive thing my video frooze at that point >.<

The new iMac looks awesome. :D

Pretty much everything i hoped for in an evolutionary redesign. Good riddance ODD! Been nice knowing you :D

If you buy a desktop on how it looks then you are the perfect fodder for Apple, idiots who want to look good rather that have the ultimate in performance.

This. There are some of us that held out the last refresh because it was underwhelming. In typical Apple fashion towards their desktop mainstays lately, form over function.

It blows my mind people say stuff like this. Apple's reemergence is owed to design and innovation, not crazy benchmark eclipsing performance. That's what Apple is. A hardware DESIGN company. This is what Steve Jobs built and always envisioned. Pioneering the design, form and function of devices and technology.

Yet when new products are released people (like you) get whiny that they'll under-perform competitors. How is this still a surprise to anyone? If you think the performance is lacking and you don't care about design or size, go buy a competitor's product. Then, in two years when that company tries to cram all of that hardware into a design they ape'd from Apple you can come back here to complain again why Apple isn't pioneering some great performance achievements.

I repeat, they are a hardware DESIGN company. (Although that trend, as James Dyson recently stated with the following, "Apple's success as a technology company is built on hardware. The current fixation with digital is misplaced." is starting to blur.)

Did you honestly expect Apple to refresh the iMac with mind blowing guts?

There's a reason they engrave 'Designed by Apple in California' on products.

FireWire is gone

You are right it is gone. Personally I never have used it, but am sure most mac users prefer firewire and are used to it more than usb, it kind of sucks for those who do have a lot of devices hooked up with firewire.
