I uninstalled Chrome yet still froze up twice today.

It seems to happen when coming out of sleep. The computer will just lock up. Sometimes it's a spinny ball, sometimes an arrow, sometimes I can move it, sometimes I can't... ALL THE TIME I need to hard reset to recover.

Looks like I'm taking a trip to the Apple Store tomorrow.

Ef.

Why is chrome causing all these crashes. You think this will be fixed by chrome update or apple update or neither and we can't use chrome (non-canary) anymore.

yikes! I guess this is why it is good not to be an early adopter...

Chrome is my favorite browser (can't stand Safari). Thanks to everyone for the heads up. I am very interested in making the 13inch MBA my next purchase but I'll wait until this is sorted out. If anyone notices an update that fixes the problem and wouldn't mind posting back to this thread to let others know things are better that would be much appreciated!

I started getting this on my 2011 11'' so i guess the problem is general. I started using safari again, until an update for chrome arrives.

My brand new MacBook Air 2012 (2012 11 inch air - 2.0ghz i7 - 8GB Ram - 256GB SSD) has crashed with the gray screen of death 3 times now.

I have seen other reports on this on other sites.

Who else has seen this?

Yeah it's happened to me 3 times too. It's like an instant freeze out of no where like wtf. I'm glad I'm not the only one, maybe it's software related and not my hardare.

I was going to buy a new air in a few days but this is putting me off a bit, does anyone know if it occurs with Chromium too? (http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5111-chromium-for-mac-os.html)
Someone said Canary works? Thats what made me wonder. If someone could check I would be greaty appreciative! And it would provide a good alternative to those who still want to use Chrome (without the nightly aspect of canary)

Don't you love it when people quote the huge hex dump post just to say it happened to them, too?

comprar una mac 2012 es como jugar a la ruleta rusa??
leer esto me hace feliz de tener una maquina obsoleta como ustedes les llaman a las del año pasado...

also, why u guys saying that flash player "contaminates the system", i downloaded chrome today.

i shall uninstall flash player? or leave it there, i think i wont go back to use safari again, so...

bete a la berga = have a nice day

Apple aren't responsible if some no-name abandonware software crashes the system. Stick to reputable software companies.

Apple are responsible for making an OS that won't fall over if an application goes rogue.

Windows would not have crashed, poor coding/design on Apple's part.

To bring windows down like this, it would need to be a driver bug, so perhaps there is something wrong in Apple's drivers for something new in the 2012 range?

I still can't believe this is Google's fault, and an Apple software update will fix this.

I saw that there was an adobe flash update today that it suppose to fix crashing in firefox. Did anyone else notice this. Maybe it's adobe to blame.

How long until there's a recall on these products?
Which product? Google Chrome or Adobe Flash?

Since the problem doesn't happen with Safari and Flash, it is either Chrome or the particular version of Flash included with it.

I know that adobe just released an update today or yesterday for firefox because it was crashing that browser.

What a stupid comment.

If Apple or any other OS maker cannot properly sandbox applications in this day & age so that it can bring an entire system to a hard stop, it's the OS's manufacturer's problem. Whether the applications are coded poorly or not is irrelevant. It still has yet to be proven if it's bad coding on Google's part or a bad implementation in Apple's graphics drivers. I would tend to think it's the later and Google isn't a "no-name abandonware" company.
