I have little faith in apple. It took them 5 days to replace my drive and then they put the same toshiba drive back in. Then a week later it failed a second time despite the software update indicating no problem.

I have to admit after many issues apple did do me right but still putting the same known faulty drive in is just stupid. They should have ordered samsung replacements or some other company like sandisk

So are you waiting for another replacement currently or what is Apple going to do regarding your situation?

For me, I brought it in on October 26. Still haven't received a call that the drive has arrived so my computer is still sitting not operational. It's been over two weeks now.

I had many issues with my 2012 air. In less then a month the entire machine had practically been replaced. It was really bad. I had so many issues that they told me they were going to replace it with a new machine of equal value. I almost picked a 13 inch retina but left with a 2013 macbook air since I wanted the extra battery life.

I was really stressed out with the old machine. Stuff kept failing. So many trips and appointments. Apple made it right though and im glad its over.

Do you have your computer or does Apple have it? I know Amazon will take non-working computers but I'm waiting because you get substantially more if the computer works so I figure it's better to wait until the drive is replaced. It may fail again but I don't plan on using it much, if at all, once I get it back before trading it in.

Apple has it. The very moment it's back in my possession it's going to be gone, as I certainly am not interested in gambling that it'll be OK.

Since it's used for work and I've already waited an obscenely long time, I went to the Apple store this weekend bought a 2013 to replace it, so that took care of the problem.

So far so good on the new SSD. Clean install of Mavericks went fine and it seems faster for some reason. I don't know if that's Mavericks or the new drive.

I plan on replacing this machine in a year or so, so as long as it'll get me through until sometime next year I'm ok.
