Guys what do you think about Haswell Retina release date?
Will it be in the first half of 2013 or the second?

summer 2013, maybe august

No chance for retina release before may or june ? What do you think ?

I am sure for it won't release in april, but if it will release after july, I'd have to think about get a 2012 rMBP now.

And if we consider the retina display issues..
Should I get one ? The next release will be probably more stable than 2012 rMBP.

The desktop CPU's aren't supposed to be out until June or something.

Mobile CPU's (for the Macbook Pro's) will be after.

I'm not expecting to see any Haswell MBP's until Fall or early Winter.

You mean that Haswell MBP's coming in 2013 Q4 , which means it won't release until about august ?

I really need release time information. Could it be the same time as 2012 ? like about june ?

There were some details released at CES about when the Desktop and Mobile CPU's were going to be released. I can't remember anything more specific than what I've said so far. Desktop CPU's are supposedly coming this summer, with the mobile ones to follow a few months later.

Given that Apple will need some time to pull them into their supply chain for a refresh of their gear, I would suspect that new MBP's with those CPU's will be out in Fall (like, September-ish ... maybe August in time for Back-to-School refresh) or October-ish, in time for Holiday shopping.

Desktop and notebook processors will be released in late Spring.

The delayed release time on "mobile" processors that you may have been reading about refers to ultrabook/tablet form-factors.

Expect an rMBP refresh at WWDC 2013.

I am expecting the refresh before august, perhaps same as 2012 rMBP release date, as you said it could be after WWDC 2013, mid June.

regular i5, i7 are suppose to be april-june
ulv i5, i7 are suppose to be july-sept

So i guess an upgrade Haswell will perform 15-20% better than ivy, with the same amount in intel graphics Hd 4600 vs HD 4000 and a boost o battery from 7h to 9h

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600.86106.0.html

So i guess the release of the new upgrade macbook line will be july-august.
But if all goes retina than the MBA 13.3" will have more pixels than macbook PRO 13.3. I mean they return to the original state with mba have a 100 more pixels than the pro witch in this case this number will be double (200 more)
MBA - 2880*1800
MBP - 2880*1600

Personally I will wait for the Haswell rMBP

I am reading this thread and can totally relate with both sides of the table where folks are debating wants versus needs. I personally think at this point it would be foolish not to wait for the Hasswell rMBP. I think in July is when we will see these come out. Still the anticipation is killing me and I am often tempted to jump in my car and go get one and be waiting be damned. I had this crackhead style craving just a few minutes ago as a matter of fact.

So two sides of this argument. The first is do you really need the updated chip-set or just want it? Well even if you don't need it everyone knows the prices will just keep dropping so if you can keep your impulses in check the current 2.7 16GB 512SSD model is probably going to drop at least 200-300 when these come out if not more. That is worth waiting for if you can stand it. :p

Now as to my personal situation, I am actually one of the folks that does really need all the extra cycles it will offer so I need to wait for a few different reasons. I have an old 16x16x2 modular English studio console I restored plugged into a chained pair of echo audiofire12 AD\DA units for a total of 24 tracks digital IO to my mbp via Pro Tools. When I do enough tracks at higher sample rates, it can really kill my system. I want portability so its gotta be a macbook. With the newer ones I need to replace the FW port and there are hi speed combo hubs. Alternatively the option of an updated thunderbolt display which I am considering to link it all is enticing because it can act as the hub but I wont do that until they update it with USB3. This also assumes they don't ditch the FW port. All unknowns still.

So since I need to wait to see what the updated display will offer before I make that choice, well then I have to suck it up and wait for the updated macbook. I dont expect huge cpu improvement but I do think that the battery life alone if more is worth it. What I am really hoping for though is a 13.3" quad core with 16 or more GB as that is my preferred size. So in short, I must wait. Probably so should most this close to the summer release. My 2c

Hope you're right.

I think the Haswell refresh will happen in July, probably first two weeks.

I am hoping you are right. I wonder if they are going to do something about the LG displays. When I go to buy one finally I will be definately opening it up and powering it on to see if its the Samsung. I wish there was a way to tell from the box packaging or sn the actual display. Its sort of Russian Roulette hoping you dont get the bullet.

I've seen some people on here and around the internet saying that a refresh will come out in the mid summer, around June or July. I HIGHLY doubt this, I don't think haswell is supposed to hit the market until June and Apple is always 4-5 months behind the consumer release, at least from what I've seen.

Anyone else agree with me here?

Its all speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if Apple is a launch partner and the chip as its debut part in a macbook. But truth is no one knows. July is optimistic while October is realistic...

Unfortunately the pessimists and naysayers were right. It'll be out in July or August but only in trickled out/Small numbers. And THOSE will be defective due to the problems with Haswell and the USB 3.0. Once that gets sorted out there will be a 2nd wave of Haswell chips that will then enable Apple to release in full scale numbers. In time for the holiday season at the earliest. What I can't believe is that Apple would even allow one of these machines come out knowing that they are having this comparability issue between Haswell and USB 3.0. They are going to open themselves up for some serious media bashing

It is just experience. That is how the tech industry works. The planned launches are usually way optimistic and any little issue can push thinks pack weeks.
Intel also still says they stick with their 2 year tick tock strategy although it already clearly shows that it is slowing way down. Every process shrink takes longer. They wanted to have 14nm ready for 1H/2014. That is not going to happen.

So my question is what is everyones estimate about the pricing for their 2013 rmbp 13"? Cause I may be in the market for them before the next fall semester starts.

I think it will be a good update. The nowdays Intel HD 4000 does not work very good at that super high resolution.

i hope it should be around 1200, aside that we dont have any info on that

I was hoping for an early summer release but with the USB 3.0 problem, I don't think that will happen. Probably August/September maybe...

I think it truly had a shot at being much earlier but the USB 3.0 issues just nixed that....

The USB problem is pretty much a non-issue blown way out of proportion. It only affects plugged in USB 3.0 devices when the computer wakes from sleep. Apple could very easily make their own fix for the by the summer.
