Keep in mind, he has just now been in the majors one full season (only three seasons total of professional ball,) and the Braves drafted him as a pitcher.

Tags runner trying to steal second....BETWEEN HIS LEGS

http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=26906517&c_id=mlb

In the 14th inning, he is running to third to cover for a bunt with runners on 1st and 2nd. The batter pulls the bunt back, and hits a chopper up the middle. He fields it, steps on second awkwardly, and throws to first and somehow gets enough on the throw to beat the runner

Throws Cuddyer out at home after a long relay. No clue still how this ball beat him, and he made such a perfect throw from that far.

He does it again a few days later

I don't blame them. I would want ARod off my team if he used PED's and now the circus he has created. I want language in the next CBA to allow teams to void players contracts that test positive for PED use or the league has sufficient evidence of use( as seen with the Biogenesis case).

There should be no reason why teams have to keep on paying players millions of dollars if it is confirmed the player cheated.

Not disagreeing here, but he only tested positive when they were allowed. He had no recent positives since PED!s were disallowed.

PED's were banned in 1991. Just there was no testing and enforcing policies setup.

oh look, Joe Girardi is still crying like a 5 year old child.

He's got no room to talk as long as he's still got a player on his roster who is supposed to be serving a suspension right now.

It's his job to defend his players, even someone like ARod. Look at your manager trying to defend Dempster intentionally throwing at ARod. He knows it was intentional, but he threw out BS excuses because he is defending his player.

Look ARod is a douche, cheater, etc. But, as long as he is playing, his manager needs to defend him on the field. And if ARod was a Red Sox and it was CC intentionally throwing at him, I would expect Farrell to come out and defend him and curse out CC, etc....

Every player that appeals a suspension plays during the appeals process. It's not like ARod is getting special treatment. I'm not sure why so many players are making such a big deal out of it. It's for their own good, and it's a part of their own agreement. We all know he's going to be suspended, it's just a matter of time.

That said, two wrongs don't make a right. What Dempster did was obviously intentional - and the fact that he missed the first time he tried is more than a little pathetic. If he has such an issue with ARod he should own it and take his suspension. Without appealing, of course.

When Dempster starts throwing at criminals, drunks, and abusers I'll start having respect for him. Until then, he's just another hypocrite.

And can we please stop pretending that A Rod is the only cheating douchebag to ever play the game? Plenty of guys have cheated. Plenty of guys have cheated and have never gotten caught. Every team has them, and every fan base (including that of the Red Sox, I mean come on!) seems to conveniently ignore that fact.

Yeah, during and after the game that night, I would expect it, and that's fine. But it's in the past, and it's time to move on. Continuing to whine about it now just makes Girardi look like a crybaby.

Yeah, many players have been suspended due to PEDs, etc, but A-Rod's taking this whole nonsense to the next level. Outing teammates (Cervelli), whining that the Yankees didn't tell him he was hurt and made him play hurt, etc etc. It's ridiculous. The dude's a primadonna.. what does he expect?

The telling thing is that the other 12(I think?) players all involved in the same Biogenesis scandal as a-rod all took their suspensions without appeal.

And calling for a suspension for Dempster is just ridiculous. He hit a guy. Big deal. Blame the ump for not warning after he threw behind him on the first pitch if you want, but whatever. The ump's actions were just speaking for how the majority of the country feels. I agree it's pathetic he couldn't hit him on the first pitch.. but it's Dempster. He's just not very good. And once you have the 3-0 count and you're probably going to walk him, you might as well just hit the guy.

I don't understand why people in baseball get so worked up now because a guy got hit with a ball.. boo hoo. Take your base and stop whining. He hit a-rod right in the elbow pad. If he aimed at a-rod's head, it's a different thing altogether, but he didn't. No wonder why baseball players continue to get stereotyped as little babies. It never used to be that way. I remember Pedro drilling guys in the ass and nobody whined like this.

Their suspensions were also a lot less than ARod's. Even Braun, who appears to have equalled ARod's d-baggery - AND who actually failed a drug test.

I have said 1000 times I don't like ARod and I think he's an a**. I also think he's being targeted more strongly because it's easier to make an example out of a villain than anyone else. MLB dropped the ball so many times regarding PED's - it's as if they're trying to make up for all of their mistakes by dropping a bomb on ARod.

Frankly, he's calling for a suspension because throwing intentionally at a batter is a suspendable offense. It's not like he's calling for a suspension for throwing behind him. He hit him on purpose. Pitchers get suspended for that in MLB, do they not?

I'd also say again - why not deal more harshly with the criminals, the guys who assault their wives, and the guys who drive drunk over and over? Why not hit those guys? The guys who actually hurt people? Picking on a guy that nobody likes it kind of weak. And the fact that the "majority of the country" has no problem ignoring other crimes these guys commit is ridiculous. It's faux outrage. And it's completely ignorant.

You have a short memory. When guys get hit on purpose, especially for bad reasons, people get mad. Players get mad. Fans get mad.

Remember Armando Benitez? And the brawl between the O's and Yankees after he hit Tino in the back.

Remember Robin Ventura charging Nolan Ryan?

This is not a new thing in baseball.

I agree with you. A-Rod is being scapegoated and it's pretty obvious. It's completely annoying, because I can feel a flicker of sympathy for him until I douse it with the knowledge that he's a rich, whiny, pampered, lying cheater. But yeah, it should be the same punishment and severity for everyone.

That said, I believe the Yankees are a big part of this. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind (call me a conspiracy theorist, whatevs) that MLB and the Yankees have had discussions about this and about making A-Rod go away.

Sad to say, but it's because people value the "integrity of the game" more than they value the safety and lives of women. I remember when Brett Myers beat the hell out of his wife in Boston the night before he was scheduled to start at Fenway. He was jailed on domestic violence charges and the Phillies still let him start the game the next day.

Well he is a repeat offender.

That's off the field stuff though. Guys that do **** like that are definitely scumbags but it has nothing to do with baseball. Taking roids is cheating and directly effects the integrity of the game. That's why so many guys are pissed at A-Rod and others. Not like Dempster was the only one to voice his opinion about A-Rod... he just chose to do it with a baseball.

If the Yankees were really that mad, they should have done something about it in the game. Have CC hit Ortiz or something. Charge the mound. But they didn't even do anything.

I agree with you. The Yankees ownership and management is doing everything they can to make him and his big contract go away. It's sickening and it's an embarrassment.

Exactly. And I remember that. It's disheartening to say the least.

Well he is a repeat offender.

So is Braun. Who also lied about it and tried to throw everyone but the batboy under the bus in an effort to cover it up.

And you don't think that's a problem? I'm sorry, but having criminals and wife beaters on billboards and cereal boxes effects the integrity of the game as well. All it does is say it's OK to be a drunk abuser, as long as you show up and hit home runs.

I have no issue with steroid suspensions and bans, but I do have a problem with hypocrisy.

If the Yankees were really that mad, they should have done something about it in the game. Have CC hit Ortiz or something. Charge the mound. But they didn't even do anything.

As much as I wanted Ortiz or Pedroia drilled, I honestly think that there was no retaliation because they were actually trying to win the game. With a one or two run lead, why would they put themselves in a position to lose? Especially on the road.

As a Red Sox fan, you should be ticked off at Dempster. He put himself before the team - and losing the lead, and the game, is proof of that. Putting the leadoff guy on in the inning after your team scores 2 runs is stupid. And it came back to bite him. They're in a pennant race in a tough division. They may need that one game later in the season.

So is Braun. Who also lied about it and tried to throw everyone but the batboy under the bus in an effort to cover it up.

At least Braun finally admitted he was wrong and he's a liar and just sucked it up and took the suspension.

Hey, I never said it wasn't a problem. It's a huge problem. Just trying to point out the difference. Anyone who beats their wife or commits a crime should be in jail. Period. If you commit a serious crime like domestic violence, you should be straight-up cut like the Patriots did with Aaron Hernandez and locked up for an extended period of time. But that's an issue unrelated to the actual game of baseball. Juicing to gain competitive advantage in the game is directly related to the game, obviously. That's why people see it differently.

If I was a die hard fan, I might be pissed at Dempster. But I'm not, so seeing smug mr. a-roids get drilled with a 90+mph fastball is enjoyable entertainment for me. The Sox had ample opportunity to win the game, including holding a lead again, after that happened. You can't for a fact say that if Dempster didn't hit A-roid, the Red Sox would have won the game.

He won't miss a start. Is that good or bad for the Red Sox.

If he continues to pitch like he did the other night, it's a good thing because he's not very good.

That said, MLB's "5 game suspension" is a mockery.. all it does is force the guy to push his start back a day. If you're going to suspend someone, make it count.

At least Braun finally admitted he was wrong and he's a liar and just sucked it up and took the suspension.

No he didn't. He got caught AGAIN and in light of damning evidence, his people negotiated down what probably would have been a longer one.

He wouldn't have admitted anything had he not been caught up in this biogenesis thing. He'd still be insisting the anti-semitic cubs fan was out to get him.

The other stuff, we'll just agree to disagree on.

I will say this: Red Sox fans have to be delusional if they don't think steroids played a part in any of their championships. That's what's annoying about all of this - The A-Roid signs and the "looser" signs. If you are going to hate on one guy, you have to hate on them all. They are ALL cheating scumbags.
