Congrats to the Champions. Can't wait for next season!

Fixed that for you. :D And thank you kindly. Have you guys started a paypal fund to pay for Letroy Guion's bail yet?

There's as much evidence to suggest the Falcons won games by cheating as there is evidence the Patriots won by cheating. None.

Yup. The Colts did this in 2006 and no one seemed to care. I don't think many people's feathers are ruffled about the Cleveland Browns' "textgate" scandal, either. This about sums up my feelings on the matter. :D

That said, I'm already excited about the offseason and the draft. I have a problem.

Congrats, again!

Didn't you guys figure out how to route a parade yet since only two years ago you had one for the Red Sox and two years before that for the Bruins? ;)
Its not the parade route that caused the issue, its getting people into the city. We've been dealing with 47" of snow in the last 10 days and extreme cold. This has caused all sorts of issues with the mass transit system. The delays are bad, increase the people using it, and it gets worse.

Driving into the city is worse because what used to be 2 or 3 lane roads are now single lane roads. Intersections are dangerous because there's 6+ feet of snow banks so you cannot see traffic.

All in all, the parade was a huge success, it was just a pain to get into the city.

Agreed. If Jerry and company can't sign him to a long term deal, he'll get franchised for sure.

They key question in Dallas, and I think everyone knows this, is can they find a way to keep both Dez and Murray? I'm pretty sure that with Murray's injury history that he is going to want to cash in on the great success he had this past season. We know RB career longevity can be an issue, especially for players who are viewed as "injury prone". It will be interesting to see how things play out.

Do you have snow like that in November? With who you have holding the bats next season you better be ready to celebrate a Red Sox World Series parade (yeah, you heard it here first). Dare I say this, you guys as far as perennial championships have pretty much become the New York of this era.

That being said the NYY can one day take Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey from the Giants and Pablo Sandoval and David Ortiz from the Red Sox and become the Damn Yankees all over again. I have seen this type of unethical behavior from New York as long as I can remember. But enjoy the trophies while you can, because I can say that I am doing just that and realize this can never happen again like this in my lifetime. Of course we are anticipating the NBA championship over here in Oakland.

Murray is fantastic, but I don't think he's nearly as important as Dez. He has a TON of miles on his legs. Dallas's O-line is a strength, and I think the league has proven that it grinds RBs into dust. Not only that, but it's not difficult to find RB talent in all rounds of the draft. The Patriots just won with Blount at RB, and he's not even a top 10 talent. I'm not sure committing crazy cap space to Murray is the wisest move. Dallas needs help on defense badly. They're close to championship caliber, they just need to shore up that defense.

I am far more bullish on the Red Sox than you are. I think there are quite a few teams that are ahead of them in terms of winning a championship. The Red Sox are taking the Atlanta Hawks approach to starting pitching (no superstars, just 5 solid guys), and that will need to work out exactly as they expect in order to work. pitching > offense. The offense will be much improved, thankfully, which will make for some entertaining games regardless. I was hoping we'd get an ace or at least re-sign our own...so we'll see. I am glad they didn't give up the ransom the Phillies were asking for Hamels, though. Still some offseason left.

Believe me, I hate the Yankees, but a) the "sign ALL the free agents!" method hasn't really worked for them consistently. Yeah, they won it in 2009, but the dynasty (gag) period of 1996 - 2000 was because of their farm with free agents being complimentary pieces.

It's also within the rules - and although I think they have some unfair advantages over some teams with the amount they can spend and the draw of playing in the toilet Yankee Stadium, I think cheapskate owners get no flack whatsoever and that's lame. The Yankees are operating within the rules. I, for one, am super glad we didn't pay Jacoby Ellsbury the funny money they gave him. ;)

Nope, we'll get a rare November snow storm but that's about it.

Boston average for a year is something like 43 inches. We got 47 inches in under two weeks. Two large snow storms (one a crippling blizzard, the other massive) just dropped a ton snow us. This in of itself causes nightmares for those who commute into the city. The aging infrastructure was buckling under the snow conditions and deep free temps.

Average highs in this time of year is 37 degrees. I woke up this morning to 5 degrees. Stuff like that is going to play havoc on the infrastructure.

by the way more snow is on the way for Boston. A series of snow storms are inbound starting tomorrow and not finishing up until Tuesday (or Monday night).

Yeah I know they are within the rules, it's just so many I know more into baseball than me hate their money. I still couldn't help but be marveled at their 4 titles in 5 years including a threepeat. Who does that other than MJ and the Bulls?

If you do win the WS in 2015, let's hope your parade does not include a snow storm.

I will be thrilled for the Panda if you guys win with him, at least as long as you don't beat the Giants in the WS this year. We love him so much it's really hard to fathom that type of hero worship. Only Tim Lincecum has that type of love among Giants fans.

I still have that nagging feeling in my head we may meet up with you in the World Series having our #3 pitcher, former Red Sox man Jake Peavy, pitching in the 7th game of the WS against your new acquisition, Pablo Sandoval. What a treat that will be...if we win.

What was very, very hard for us in the Bay Area was to see our beloved former genius wonderboy coach, Jon Gruden, take his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the win over his former Oakland Raiders in the Super Bowl. Everybody felt some sort of responsibility for letting Gruden go from Oakland even though the fans have no say. It was still a very, very sick feeling and suspiciously something that would make us think we brought on the Raiders loss in the Super Bowl by not keeping Gruden.

But every time we lose a big star, like former WS starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez (Royals), or former WS closer Brian Wilson (Dodgers), and now the Panda (Red Sox), it's with a realization that such a former player can come back to bite us in the end. Of course with a limited amount of money we can't keep every good player on board.

The Red Sox certainly beefed up their team with some serious offensive, but the pitching to me is still too questionable.

We've had Snow in April, May and as mentioned in November. Anything's possible. The first hurdle is to start winning games. Since spring training hasn't even started yet, I'm not even looking at the world series :)

I am usually of the popular opinion that pitching wins championships, but with such steady and heavy firepower in those bats, the Red Sox can make up for a lack of pitching by hitting, a lot. My guess is that all you have to do is have average pitching in this case.

It does not hurt that two of those guys can also hit big. This will be interesting to see, those Three Amigos of the Boston Red Sox.

Baseball, unlike hockey, golf, tennis, race car driving, basketball, and football, is more than just a big sport, it's a bona fide religion or maybe cult. Part of this baseball religion is due to the longevity of heroes over more than a century and that is why baseball gets under the skin as a religion also due to the 162 games and vicious decades-long rivalries.

While Larry Bird and his Celtics were amazing, and Tom Brady and his Patriots are now, a new season of championships at the hands of the Three Amigos may bring on a hero worship thing far beyond the limitations of sports. This can bring something huge like back to back WS to Boston and the advertising potential of the Three Amigos is just unthinkable and has a potential to make it nationally. Just Panda alone far surpasses the title of "baseball hero" in San Francisco, but I just can't imagine Ortiz, Ramirez, and Sandoval all on the same team. Pitchers can be heroes, but hitters become godlike (Ruth, DiMaggio, Bonds, Cobb, etc).

Jerry Rice calls out Patriots for cheating

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/jerry-rice-calls-out--cheating--patriots-but-admitted-to-using-stickum-200324269.html

C'mon we all know they did :p

But as funny as that is to America, I really don't believe anybody tampered with balls

I do. Mike Kensil and Ryan Grigson both had access to the ball that was intercepted. If the reports stating that this was the only ball to be 2 psi low are true, I'm going to assume one of them deflated it prior to handing it over to the refs. Means and motive. If the latest report that the other balls were "a few ticks" below 12.5 is true, that's easily explained by the change in environment - warm locker room to cool, rainy outdoors.

Hilariously, he used the "everybody did it" defense to rationalize his illegal use of stickum. Sure, he broke the rules, but it's not why he was great.

And we don't know anything at this point...but the most recent reports from "sources" (which I will repeat don't have a great track record right now) indicate that it's far more likely that someone deflated the intercepted ball to make the Patriots look bad. Of course, given the way ESPN and the NFL network piled on, it clearly worked. Facts are irrelevant to people at this point. The accusation was made, and they must be guilty because Spygate.

You see that arm ?

It had 3 torn ligaments in it while he was holding that hand up.

He is due for surgery later.

So is Hightower, who 1-arm tackled Lynch the play before Butler's interception to stop him at the 1.

And that accounts for the other 10 under inflated balls on the Patriots sideline how?

If they started out at 12.5, which is what the Patriots are claiming, and were measured at half time "a few ticks" below 12.5...then the transition from the locker room to the field could easily explain that change. Again, this is all presuming those "sources" were correct. We went from "11 of 12 were 2 psi under" to "10 of the 11 that were under were more like 1 psi low" to "10 of the 11 that were under were 'a few ticks' low"...so who knows.
