A few points, the 6 cylinder Ford use is a straight six (not a v6) and its actually a fairly old engine and not the most economical, i was just using it as an example of the poor power output from the Chevy motor. Secondly a Corvette is not going to get the same mixed fuel consumption (both highway and city driving) as a lower CI motor. For example the 3.6L SIDI Alloytec V6 will have much better MPG then the LS motor in the Corvette. Don't kid yourself into thinking a 6.2L pushrod Corvette is more fuel efficient then say a 5L motor with a more modern engine.

Camaro SS and Mustang GT both get 19 MPG combined. Next?

Of course... Head over to the Camaro 5 forum. You be surprised the mileage our crappy American V8's get

after looking the european numbers on the official chevrolet site, i know why the camaro is so much more expensive in Austria compared to Germany:
20.9 liter city/10.2 highway/14.2 combined .... in Austria that means the gas guzzling tax spikes up

that means a 60.000 euro price tag as a result...

It'll be a joyous day when GM finally ditches the pushrod motor. 450 HP from over 6 liters is just embarrassing. It'll probably have the same pathetic 7,000 RPM red line as now. That's a truck motor.

Of course, the real joy will be when Chevrolet moves the engine to its proper place behind the driver. I believe that's inevitable while at the same time I'm not holding my breath. :)

It's a $55,000 car. Not a $155,000 car. Just trying to put things into perspective here :) That, and they make great daily drivers with rather cheap maintenance.

Ok, it might not be the coolest car - I'll give you that. When I was 16 I thought the Corvette was a lame car for old farts, but the appeal of a sporty car that you can still drive daily and not have to put thousands into maintenance in is quite nice.

We're not really a MY out. The new cars will be delivered in the fall to customers. The magazines will have their hands on them in the summer for testing. They need to be done with all of that tuning and whatnot before summer. And since the Power Train engineer has said they intend to submit the LT1 for SAE certification during "first quarter of 2013" it means they're going to be done with the tuning before the end of March.

I know you didn't; I'm trying to enlighten you to all of the concerns GM has when it comes to power, FE, etc for the car. THEY have to care aboue CAFE numbers. For whatever reason, it's not getting through to you.

It's not going to happen. It'll be closer to 460 or so, plus or minus a few.

The car will likely not go into production until August for October delivery

CAFE is a side argument…

This is a power/FE debate not the ramifications of the outcome debate.

It's clear you're plucking certain things to reply to, and not quite grasping the entirety of my posts or messages. Given that, you and I are done debating this because you are, I'm sorry to say, quite ignorant when it comes to the process of designing, testing, and validating new cars.

Take care.

As we early adopters of imports found out, little old ladies in Buicks would beat us and didn't even know we were racing... cubic inches are hard to beat and torque is very satisfying indeed.

Mid-engined cars are fine, tend to be boy-racy though in most cases. Front is fine, easier to deal with and roomier for taller people.

Corvette's main problem for me is the fiberglass. Much prefer metal.

Yeah I did! Looks incredible actually..

NSX in the center. Headlamps are amazing.

Just reposting the stuff i took with instagram..

At least this year's car has an interior. Now if we only knew how much it'll cost and details of the power train. Lots of rumors, very little official fact.
