And I'll wave hello driving by while you fill up your methusalem for 4-6$ a gallon.
My dad worked at a Chevy dealer for a long time, and he said the absolute worst customers he had to deal with the guys who came in to buy Corvettes. He said they were without exception a bunch of middle-aged, pompous loudmouths who thought they were doing him a favor. This really sucked for my dad, since he earned a straight commission per car sold and it was exactly the same if he sold a Corvette or a Caviler.
There are all sorts of stereotypes about people who drive certain cars. All of them are true.
The more a car makes a statement, the stronger the stereotypes are. If you don't like the remarks, simply drive a dull, practical car and nobody will say anything or even think anything good or bad about you. This works for most people.
Not true at all. I have plenty of friends who own high end exotic cars and I myself have always had nicer cars and will be upgrading to something Italian in the summer. I have always chatted with people at gas stations who ask questions or wanted to take pics. Sometimes I've even given rides. The only question I won't answer is when someone asks how much it costs.
I think part of it can be sometimes you can catch someone who is in a hurry to do something and might blow you off. That is just gonna stick in people's minds more than good interactions.
You can't discount a generalization with anecdotal evidence.
In general I think the poster is right to an extent. I imagine that cars are marketed heavily to certain groups of drivers.
All generalizations are false....

Stereotypes exist for a reason, but that doesn't mean they're still accurate. I agree with JoshMKB24 in that at most car events I've gone to (track events specifically), the folks there are usually pretty open, approachable, interested in chatting, etc. You'll get the occasionally the stuck-up snob, but they're actually the exception rather than the rule.

Corvettes are so un-Apple.

What about the generalization that women drive safer than men? Insurance rates across all insurance companies on average show this to be true.
I will say track events are completely different. Everyone at a track event is a car enthusiast who is usually eager to share their passion and enthusiasm with other car enthusiasts.
As in not wildly overpriced for the performance? Yeah I'll agree![]()
If a corvette is a PC, I want this as my Mac.

Hm. The Audi is highly over-priced and under performs badly against most of the current Corvette line-up.
Are you sure you want that? ...

Saw it at the Houston Auto Show yesterday...unfortunately the Stingray didn't make an appearance

A Lenovo (or Corvette) is cheaper and theoretically faster then a Macbook. The Mac (or R8) is real life faster and yields a much more premium experience (more quality engineering, parts, handling, more luxurious). I'll take the R8 any day.
Except the Corvette has proven to be faster in real life than the R8......
This is why Mac vs PC analogies never work with cars and vice versa.![]()
