And here is this year's version

looks like Red bull at least adjusted the paint job to hide the front convincingly

Caterham: i suspect whoever made the plans was drunk

Agree about the nose, although those are the smallest side pods I've seen in years.

Caterham is jesus that is the worst yet

It looks like they started making it out of a certain type of lego block then ran out of that type of lego block and had to use whatever other kind of lego block they could find...

and what is it with the proboscis noses? is there a rule that they have to have one? ferrari and mercedes must have found a loop hole.

I was watching sky sports news earlier well it was in the background and they showed Hamilton crash but it sounded like moto gp was on. Ahhhh not liking the sound!!

i think they just use a deeper front wing, that comes all the way to the tip of the nose.

some of these solution are bound to be much better (and worse) than others, so we'll see changes within a few races

With al the different noses -- and we're talking aero here to work within FIA formula -- my money is on Adrian Newey, so I'll bet as the season unfolds the others start to look and function however the Red Bull looks and functions.

Renault engined teams in real bother. All together they have managed about 11 laps today. Mercedes on their own almost made it to triple figures. Mercedes engined cars currently fast. McLaren have some interesting and unique rear suspension.

merc's rear suspension trick could be a game-changer, as it would take some time for other teams to copy it.

Do you mean McLaren? Link

I have to admit I find this interesting. At this moment we have no idea which is the fastest car, just that Mercedes have the most reliable engine. My concern is the reliability issues might scare off manufacturers (imagine if Renault's problems persist).

While there's no shortage of topics to discuss given all the changes this year, I'm most put off by the sound of the new engines. Typically I attend at least three races each year, and will miss the wonderful sounds of previous years.

Setting that aside, the engineers certainly have had their hands full getting ready to race their new cars. That challenge alone will make the early part of the season very exciting. It's time they quell the rumors and retire old Bernie, the sport needs a new man in that spot.

Lets hope the double points at the end of the season doesn't play into finger boys hands!

is this still go? i kinda hoped it was abandoned

i'm guessing we'll get used to them, but yeah they sounded better. i liked even better the previous generations.
