The Yankees look like they have the potential of having one of the best pitching rotations in the MLB. Infield has a few question marks, plus Teixeira and Jeter need big bounce back years. But I think they have enough power and production to score a lot of runs. The bullpen looked iffy at the start of spring, but David Robertson, Dellin Betances, and Boone Logan are all very talented and could have big roles.

I have a good feeling this year!

Logan left for Colorado.

It's an even-numbered year, so will the Giants be able to stick with the pattern and win another World Series trophy?

It won't be easy. The Dodgers and Diamondbacks are going to be heavy competition to even make it out of the NL West. I think it's going to take contributions from the younger players to make it happen: Petit or Escobar in the starting rotation, and Adrianza or Brandon Hicks at second base. If Hicks takes over, expect a lot of Brandon (Crawford) to Brandon (Hicks) to Brandon (Belt) double plays to be turned!

isn't patrick corbin out for tommy john this season?

----------

the Mets started 2014 in perfect Mets fashion, starter stayed in the game when he should have been pulled and the bullpen walked a run in with bases loaded

Yes, injuries could be the undoing of their pitching staff. Their hitting is still dangerous.

At least Mayor DiBlasio managed to throw a strike. Sign him up!

this is what i don't get. with all the good AAA pitchers we saw including a new Dice-K they send them back to AAA and use the current bullpen.
it's like there was some backroom arguing about using some players and TC purposefully put Parnell in there to get hurt to open a spot for someone else

Was that Cano hustling down the line on the first grounder? It wasn't all out like it that dribbler second time up, but it was a bit faster than his Yankee jog down the line. :p

i didn't check the score of that game until this morning. all the hype Trout got i thought the Angels won

We don't have to worry about Nunez at short anymore, Yankees cut him.

The Champions visited with President Obama today. Stay tuned for banner raising/ring pictures. :D:cool:

Cc gave up more runs than the mets bullpen yesterday

I think he is hurt. His shoulder

i'm shocked the yanks couldn't get any runs off feldman. last year he was a middle to back of the rotation guy for the Cubs

either way with all the shifting the teams are doing, pitchers are close to becoming a commodity

He is too thin. When he was beefy he had power.

I did notice as the game moved along he started to gain a little velocity - he hit 91 a few times. At the beginning of the game he was throwing 88-89 with no movement. It was brutal, but he did start to improve a bit.

He's always been pretty bad on opening days, so I'm hoping that this was just one bad start and not a sign of things to come.

that's been Lincecum's problem but his delivery offset the lack of body mass. In CC's case he's thinner and his delivery is not altered to help generate ball speed.

It may be an aberration and he may be fine for the rest of the season but thinner is not always better for pitchers.

CC was always a power pitcher and could get by throwing fastballs at 97-98. He will need to become a control pitcher and learn to spot. He will never get his power back from 5 years ago.
