US offense wasn't creative at all. Made Canada's D look brilliant.

Canada's D is brilliant... they left better defensemen on their bench than USA had on their roster. Their defensemen were flawless and the forwards on the backcheck, especially Bergeron and Toews, were just too good.

Canada just has so much more talent than any other country... if they iced 2 teams in this tournament they'd play each other for gold.

Damn you Canada.... DAMN YOU!!!!

Ok.... I feel better... :)

Agreed.

Canada stinks!:p

As a HUGE Leafs fan, it was very weird cheering for Price while Kessell and JVR were playing for the team I was hoping to lose...

Sorry about the defeat, neighbours! Good luck against Finland!

USA got Tuukka'd :D

3 Bruins coming home to Boston with a medal :D Tuukka with the bronze, and Bergy & Loui get to battle it out tomorrow for gold/silver.

I am disappointed that I missed this game. I have no idea why the usual sports channels here did not broadcast the match, instead they chose to broadcast figure skating and other events. So I had to read a live commentary of the game on The Guardian and I'm in utter shock of the result. What happened??

-----------------

Anyway, I was going through the tweets and this one cracked me up! LOL! What was the mascot doing??

Our women's silver medal in hockey doesn't look so bad now. It just goes to show just how hard it is to medal in this sport and anything can happen. We narrowly lose to Canada and then get routed today.

5-0, What the heck happened? Unbelievable!!! I'm still stunned. Losing is one thing, but getting clobbered like that is embarrassing.

Note to Canada: Watch out tomorrow; those Scandinavians are tougher than they look! Rooting for Canada though.

I have a feeling (didn't watch the game though) there was a let down from the Canada game. Sounds like they were done.

Probably. That was a painful loss, especially after what happened with the women's final on thursday. But to put a better spin on it, the Finns also eliminated Russia 3-1, at the QFs, where Sweden also also butchered Slovenia 5-0.

Go Canada!

The US seemed out of gas today. They mentioned it in the commentary that the European countries still value the bronze medal while North American countries (in hockey) don't have the mentality to battle for 3rd place once 1st is out of the question. Selanne and the Fins looked better but had Patrick Kane had a break or two go his way, the game could have been different.

Definitely going to be interesting tomorrow morning. 2006 vs 2010 gold medal winners going at it!

One the US lost to canada i dont think they had any motivation to play hard, which is sad because even though bronze sucks, atleast they would have came home with something.

I know it's the Olympics and all but do we have to be such homers? The fact is, they deserved to lose. You have to score goals to win.

There was nothing "narrow" about that US loss to Canada.

The US was thoroughly dominated by the Canadian defense. They couldn't sustain any attack or possession in the Canadian zone. They only had a handful of legitimate scoring chances. If Jon Quick didn't stand on his head, that game easily would have been 4-0 or more.

did i say they deserved to win? The the canadian team is fantastic, as is the Finnish team. the United states didn't play bad against canada it was only 1-0, though the game was canadian dominated. The same thing happened to the russian team when they played the united states. both teams thought they were going to win and didn't, because of that the mentality of winning was lost. Its dumb to play for bronze after you just lost the right to go for gold, just my opinion. I think the format should be different.

Anybody else up for the Gold Medal game this am? I missed the US game yesterday so I can't speak on their loss, but I'm not surprised they were shutout. Their offense was flat against Canada. A couple of you mentioned Canada's D as being the cause, but I'll wager they don't post a shutout today and it won't because Sweeden is an offensive juggernaut. Rooting for the Three Crowns today because they have a couple of Caps and they're certainly not Canadain. :p :D
