So the Eagles fired their coach and GM in the same day, they're not messing around.... Chip will get another head coaching either in the NFL or college in mere days, but how awesome would it be if he got hired as the Bills OC lol

With no head coach in Tennessee, I'm sure Marcus Mariota is somewhere calling the Titans GM begging him to get Chip Kelly!

The Eagles are a hot mess. You have to figure all players are now expendable, no one is safe. The Eagles are rebuilt mode now.

According to Jay Glazer, Kelly wants to remain in the NFL and has no intentions of going back to college.

Reports also say that Kelly was fired because he refused to give up personnel control.

So Chip Kelly just got fired.

Shocked, said nobody.
What is shocking is the espn talking heads saying how he'll likely get another NFL gig because there aren't many quality candidates out there, and there will be some high profile opening. For instance Chuck Pagano, is likely to be a hot commodity, at least that's what the folks at espn were saying.

I can't see that happening, he literally blew up the team, trading away the Eagle's best players for nothing or wildly over-paying in panic mode, such was the case when signing Murray.

Bradford wasn't locked up in a long term deal, and that can be taken either way. I don't think he really play all that great, but they really don't have anyone else.

If the Jets beat the Bills they get in.
Not for nothing, players play hard for Ryan, and the idea of playing spoiler is probably too much of a temptation. The Jets will have a hard time with the Bills, more so then usual I think.

That's what I heard too, but given his player decisions, that was a no brainer move.

ha! I forgot the Titans needed a coach. They are already ruined so anything he does down here will most likely look like an improvement.

Jets vs Bills: Rex Ryan, the other most overrated coach in the NFL has done a pretty decent job in Buffalo, hasn't he? I expect you're right, the Jet's cost of winning will be dear.

That's the most logical landing spot for Kelly, but I really think he's a poor coach.

I think he views players as game pieces that he can move, replace. That might work in the college arena, it won't work in the NFL, especially given the salaries and salary cap. He absolutely blew up the Eagle's and they're beyond rebuilding, since they have nothing. The Titans need some key people, but will he get right people or will trade a pro bowl running back for a line backer like what he did with McCoy

Rex will have his team all jacked up, and they will commit any number of bonehead penalties, mostly to the tune of 15 yard personal fouls. That plus the Jets' D and some plays by Marshall or Decker should equal a win.

It's the Jets, in December, so Rex Ryan or not, they'll still have a hard time. It would be such a Jetsy way to miss out on the playoffs if they lose to Rex and the Bills. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic.

And saying that the players play hard for Ryan - meh. Mario and other guys on the D have been complaining about his defense, so that may be more myth than reality. But I'm sure they'll be ready to go and would take pleasure in denying the Jets a trip to the playoffs.

As an Eagles fan, I'm glad to see him go.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the Titans Head Coach next year given how much in love he is with Mariotta. Especially since he was trying awfully hard to draft him this past year.

Ryan inherited a defense that finished fourth in points allowed and fourth in yards allowed. On his watch, their rankings have dropped to 16th and 20th. Players have complained publicly about Ryan's scheme, something that never happened during his six years with the Jets.

That and 3 WRs injured shod be good enough for the Jets to win.

I sure hope so, but in Football the motivation factor is stronger than any other sport, Rex is going to throw the Kitchen sink at the Jets on Sunday, and like others have mentioned he is going to have his team super extra jacked up for this "revenge game". I already saw some quotes from Bills players saying this is their superbowl, I'm sure if they were playing for any other coach they would have been checked out already and making offseason plans. So while the Jets are the more talented team and should win, I have an uneasy feeling about this game... that familiar dread in the pit of my stomach that comes with being a Jets fan :(

No his problem was being a bad GM. Eagles should have never given him that position. I think had he just been coach without the ability to fire/hire players he would have done better.

This. His attitude towards needing to be the coach and GM is clearly a result from his day at Oregon where he was given absolute control over the roster. Unfortunately, Chip learned the hard way that the NFL is a different beast - how you handle the players and how you actually game plan is completely different.

Chip Kelly's future comes down to whether or not he can be just the coach in the NFL and/or if his system works. There is a reason Nick Saban has no interest in coming back to the NFL which isn't a bad thing. Perhaps Chip's future is back to college.

vikes at packers sunday night for the division after a brutal beatdown of Eli and the giants this past week, as both teams are tied and are both already in the playoffs

gotta hand it to zimmer, he's turned around a pretty much really ****** team in less than two years with a new QB to boot. pretty crazy to go from 28th defense in the league to like what 5th? in that short of time. now however, about that offensive line, Norv...

C'mon people! Chip Kelly wasn't a great coach but he wasn't that bad, either.

I actually liked what Chip was doing for the pro game, he was shaking things up a little bit and making things interesting. I think his undoing was his desire to control every aspect. He wanted to buy the groceries and cook the dinner, problem is that the he didn't get along with the guy budgeting his money for the groceries so it was bound to be a disaster. Very few coaches have been successful with full control like this, the main one that comes to mind is Bill Parcells, but it rarely works.

Put Bill Belicheck in there as well. Hate the Patriots all you want, but Bill Belicheck knows how to coach a football team.

Well the first playoff game is set.

Seattle at Washington.
Where did you hear that? Seattle's first playoff game will be in Green Bay, Washington or Minneapolis, depending on how next Sunday plays out.

Geez, the Vikings even have a chance to win the NFC-N. Weird.

Have to agree, as much as I hate the Patriots the man can coach and handle personnel like no other. He's mastered the art of dropping players right before they decline, and picking up players others have discarded and getting the most out of them

If Green Bay wins we host Seattle. Otherwise, Washington. Frankly, I'd rather play Washington.
