I doubt Apple would give a brand new iMac. They can replace the display; I believe it costs somewhere around $650-800, based on what I've seen online. I'd be content if they did that.
It's most visible on a white background, but that's not the only way it manifests. Just as an example, I bought a 27" Ultrafine and use it alongside my iMac. When I first connected them and compared them I felt that the Ultrafine was much cooler in its color tint. The reason was because I was looking at the menu bars at the top of the screen. The pink tint didn't stand out as being obviously pink to me, but it did discolor the menu bar. If I only ever looked at my iMac display I might not have realized it, but making the direct comparison it becomes obvious. That has implications for anyone who uses their display for photo or video editing, and for whom color accuracy is important.
