2015 27" iMac has pink edges ..anyone else?

Did you ever hear anything back from Apple on this? I have the same issue on my 2015 imac 27in screen.
I have the exact same issue everyone is mentioning. I have the Late 2015 27" 5K iMac model as well.

Last week, I bought a loaded "mint condition" late 2015 27'' 5k iMac with a pink edge display off Craigslist ($500).
After not being able to get rid of the pink tint, I bought a brand new oem display off eBay ($420).
If you need a new display, don't buy those fake Chinese LG iMac displays flooding the internet.
They don't have the "wide P3 color gamut" the late 2015's and newer iMacs have.
Some are not even 5120 x 2880 displays.
The one you need is: LM270QQ1 (SD) (B1) made by LG.
The fakes will also have a LG sticker and same model #. Don't be fooled.
The genuine LG oem iMac displays have the temperature sensor and big black tape square (?) on the back.
The fakes don't have those 2 things.

This looks like maybe backlight bleed with the color affected by wallpaper.

Yep. I think it’s bleed also
Everything I have read about backlight bleed seems to show up on a dark background, and this only appears on a white or lighter background. When I put a black screen up, I don't see anything. It also seems to get worse the longer the display is on. I hope you all are right though and that it doesn't get any worse.

Hmmm...that’s interesting and bothersome.
I had pretty bad backlight bleed on my 2017 27 inch 5K and Apple fixed it without any questions. BUT—they screwed up the display placement. Unbeknown to them, and I can’t believe I’m typing that, the microphone placement on the 2017 iMac differs from the 2015 model and when replacing my screen they covered up the microphone, leading to ANOTHER trip to the Apple store.
This happen with my Dell UP2715K 5k monitor as well.
And I have replace it with Dell warranty several time (3 times).
It comes perfectly but after 6 month of usage pink edge become.
So I think it is general panel problem.
my fix is to use red/orange based wall paper and it can reduce the intensity of bleed.
PS. I go to Apple store and found that their 2019 iMac and iMac Pro still have pink edge too.
And I have replace it with Dell warranty several time (3 times).

apple asked me to take it in to their local service centre .
today i was told the engineer had never heard or seen this problem ( but apple probably makes them not disclose this)
he said that there was definitely a pink hugh around the edges of the display that only showed up in white and some great colours. he said the display had failed and was faulty.
since it was out of warranty by 8 months he couldn't do anything and asked me to contact apple to see if they will fix the problem.
i have a call tomorrow with apple. we will see.
my point is , you can't see the pink unless you have a white screen, so i didn't notice it for couple years.
then when it got really bad i found it was past warranty. but uk law states a product must be fit for purpose so this unit was obviously not since it was a bad panel. uk law also states it must last a reasonable amount of time.
if apple thinks 3 years is a reasonable amount of time to expect their iMacs to last then people would not buy them.
i hope apple resolves this so i can move on.
what they should do is give a brand-new iMac.

I doubt Apple would give a brand new iMac. They can replace the display; I believe it costs somewhere around $650-800, based on what I've seen online. I'd be content if they did that.

When I first connected them and compared them I felt that the Ultrafine was much cooler in its color tint. The reason was because I was looking at the menu bars at the top of the screen. The pink tint didn't stand out as being obviously pink to me, but it did discolor the menu bar. If I only ever looked at my iMac display I might not have realized it, but making the direct comparison it becomes obvious. That has implications for anyone who uses their display for photo or video editing, and for whom color accuracy is important.

Same thing here. Has someone tried to take the protection panel off the magnets and clean the edges? There might be some dust there.
Let's define the context guys maybe the environment matters here.
I just bought it and I didn't really notice in the first days. When I opened the box there was dust in the wrap (because the box was probably transported upside down) - i'm thinking this could be a factor - dust?
I can live with this but it's kind of frustrating - after all I bought this just for the display.

I just replaced a pink display 3 weeks ago. It's not dust. I thought so too. Especially since the late 2015 iMac I bought from Craigslist was packed with 100 times more dust than I've ever seen. The entire bottom silver part of the iMac was packed solid with dust. I had to remove the speakers to get it out.
The display is failing. If you do a image retention test, only the pink area will show image retention.
Once you see it, you can't un-see it.
It will drive you crazy.
Does anyone know if they used a new sub-variant/model of the panel in the 5K display for later model iMacs or the iMac Pro? If not this issue might start to affect newer iMacs i.e. 2017 and onwards
HI all!i am the OP and I wanted to share how my issue was resolved very swiftly.
i contacted apple through twitter explaining the pink edges problem and my iMac was 8 months out of 3 year warranty . i explained that the product must last a reasonable amount of time by law and that 3.8 years was not reasonable. they suggested i take it into my local authorised apple service centre to start the process.i did this and the very nice guy ran tests on the screen. after 15 mins he said the panel was "bad"
whites and great show pink edges but no other clolurs. thats all i needed to go back to apple and claim that i had a bad panel from day one.
they didn't argue and said they can replace the screen free under 'consumer law' I am in UK btw.they worked really hard to get it booked in same day and then next day it had been replaced ...
very happy with the apple service and really happy with Be Valued apple service centre sussex! they were super fast at fixing it and getting it back to me.
all in all a very happy story 🙂
i would suggest anyone with this problem do the same as me and even if its out of warranty, use consumer law which i believe might be up to 6 years after purchase?
Just an update. I’m in the US. Took my iMac to Apple today. They barely even looked at it. Immediately they said it was the screen and a replacement done by them is approximately $600. The only advantage to having them do it is there is a warranty included if something goes wrong.

sometimes you have to fight apple. show them this thread. tell them the panel on your iMac is BAD.
it was like that when you bought it, its not fit for purpose and apple UK HAS ALREADY AGREED TO REPLACE BAD PANELS.
keep emailing apple, keep escalating it , email the CEO, email everyone.
bust their balls. why should a iMac with a bad panel in one country be fixed free and not in another country ?keep asking questions, bust their balls.
i had the same problem with DJI .. they told me 3 times i would have to pay for their faulty remote ,
in the end they agreed to do the right thing. but you have to fight these money grabbers!!
apple uk were cool! no problems, fixed within 2 days no charge under consumer law.
I have had long discussions with Apple Support for Sweden and they acknowledge this as a HW problem, but insist that this is outside of warranty and that the swedish consumer laws only cover 3 years after the purchase. I emailed a link to this thread but they say that they cannot access links like that....
I'm recommended to go to e.g Apple Store and have them quote a repair. I will probably not pay for a new panel since as I understand it that will be quite expensive. Will consult with my home insurance company to see if there are any cover there.

i think apple sweden are trying to con you!
i believe that it is EU consumer law of which sweden are a part.
call apple UK and see if the panel replacement i got was under EU consumer law and if sweden must cover this.i believe its up to 6 years after purchase ?
i could be wrong but its worth making some noise about. i would never pay apple to replace a component that was faulty from the start and known issue by apple.
its up to you but i would make a lot of noise to a lot of people. make sure you talk to high up mamanegent who have the authority to fix this fault for you . good luck 🙂

I have a late 2015 iMac 27", purchased feb. 2016 incl. Apple Care. I live in The Netherlands. I have noticed pink edges on the screen a few weeks ago as well. I have contacted Apple and informed them about the screen problems. Apple advised me to contact a Apple Store or Apple Dealer. I went to an Apple Dealer and they replaced the screen free of charge under "Consumer Law Claim". And what a difference the new screen makes! Very good service from Apple!

I just got off the phone with an Apple support manager. He encouraged me to report the issue to Apple Feedback at https://www.apple.com/feedback/imac.html and said that if I knew anyone else with the same problem, I should ask them to report it, too. He said if enough people report it, they could issue a repair recall.
