Yesterday i installed latest public beta of Yosemite to my Early 2015 Macbook Pro 13" and some of lags disappeared. But still it is not perfect enough.

Without external display using the recommended resolution seems OK now, but anything more than this is still lagging. This means external displays (even in 1080p resolution), scaled resolutions still exhaust the power of my Iris Pro.

By the way: I went to the Apple Store today and tested the new MacBook. It is laggy as hell of course. Exposé is a pain on that machine.

Wow this makes me scared to get a macbook now....
i havnt heard of this problem from friends but now this makes me nervous maybe ill have this problem..

Its not maybe, you definitely will have the lag issue but whether or not you notice it is another issue.

is it only in the "about this mac" window? I've seen videos of that. or in everyday use. EDIT: I wouldn't be getting the 2015 MBP, i would be either be getting the 2014 july 15 inch or a newer versoin of 15 inch whenever they announce this year. the 2014 15 inch rMBP doesnt have Iris 6100, so maybe no issue there?

Ummmm sure.......keep thinking that if it makes you feel better. The reality is that it is NOT definite that everyone has the issue.

4 people i know personally said they dont have this issue with their rMBP, so i guess people got bad models?

It could be due to any number of possible reasons......who knows. But for that person to say everyone has the problem is a silly statement to make.

maybe he means "really laggy" might mean different things to different people. I for one would really go nuts at the slightest choppiness. I am currently on windows 7 PC and although my cpu and ram is why i want to upgrade, the UI is still super smooth, so im wary to go to an OS which isnt smooth on a $3k laptop

This is what you get from a current harwdare, for $1300:

I suppose it will be even worse when you have more uptime or plug in an external display. Or use it in higher resolution. (This is the recommended.)

Definitely not a hardware issue, as my 2015 broadwell runs butter smooth in Windows 8.1. Even loading webpages etc is faster than on OSX. I wish i could try Mavericks as a test. Might just be Apple favoring battery life over performance.

Actually the stutter/frame drop is there on first generation Ipad Airs as well, so im 90% sure its their crappy transparency algorithm. Try tapping the address bar in safari and you'll get a mini slideshow. Turn off transparency and its butter smooth like it was before iOS8.

So much for that BS about Apple having control of the hardware and software, optimizing everything 100%.

Lagginess on models at the Willow Grove Park Mall in PA

Went to the Apple Store in the the Willow Grove Park Mall in PA. Tested the new Macbook, Macbook Pro 13" (Early 2015 model), and the Macbook Pro 15" (2014 model). All display models lag after opening 5 or more Apple apps. It's more prevalent on the new Macbook and 13" MBP. Go to your local Apple store and open 5 or more apps, then activate MISSION CONTROL (swipe up with 4 fingers) and you will notice the choppiness/missing frames. Enjoy!

i was concerned about the lag issues on the new 13' macbook pro. but it can fixed by resetting pram so i was willing to take a chance.
I've been using my 2015 macbook pro 13inch for 3 days now and i can open up to 12 apps before lag kicks in. realistically i don't even need to open have that many apps at once. even switch between civilization beyond earth and safari (with multiple tabs ) is buttery smooth.
the 15inch should be even better at multiple tasking.
not sure what you're talking about.

Today, my wife got a new MBP 13" and she already experienced this issue while she was setting up a new profile so I'm thinking about installing Marvericks. If she transfers her old Mountain Lion's data from time machine to MBP 13", then upgrade, is this possible? I have MBP 15" 2014 and downgraded to Marvericks, but I'm not sure can new MBP 13' run on Mountain Lion?

I have said it before, but I have to repeat myself: I believe, that PRAM reset has nothing to do with the fixing, rebooting the machine is what fixes the issue temporarily.

To prove this, I have recorded my PRAM's full content right after resetting and booting:

Code:
beast:~$ nvram -p
bluetoothInternalControllerInfo %89%82%ac%05%00%00%83%14`%03%08%8d%c99
fmm-computer-name Beast
SystemAudioVolumeDB %e8
ALS_Data %07%a9
SystemAudioVolume N
Test_ALS_Data %01%00
bluetoothActiveControllerInfo %89%82%ac%05%00%00%00%00%83%14`%03%08%8d%c99
LocationServicesEnabled %01
backlight-level /%02
BootCampProcessorPstates %0d%00

And here is the contents of my PRAM in a state when every animation is insufferable:

As you can see, it has new Find My Mac related properties, new blacklight and volume levels, but that's all. No magic here.

I wonder if the just released new mid-2015 15" Retina MacBook Pro is still laggy with Yosemite or not

I would think so since it is a driver/implementation problem of Mac OS X. Just let's hope for WWDC this year and that Apple has improved 2D-graphics performance.

By the way: I also noticed that the system gets choppier the more RAM is being used. When I'm using Lightroom my rMBP is definitely choppier. This makes sense since the Iris borrows memory from the RAM. Correct me if I'm wrong. After a restart and with lots of free memory, no choppiness at all.

That would mean, that machines with more RAM are less likely to lag. This is not the case as far as I know.

No, it depends on what kind of applications you have opened and how much memory they use. Whatever. It was just a hunch.

Without. Iris Pro 5200.

Running 3 monitors without a dGPU is not a priority.. Not sure how you can expect anything at all running three monitors without a dedicated card or am I missing something here?
