I still have the key issues going and I'm getting more and more fed up with it. At the moment, my space bar and mute keys aren't working properly. I will report to Apple soon to see what the response will be. I'm currently in a process at work that involves a lot of typing and switched back to a big, ugly midi tower with windows but bought a mechanical keyboard, it feels like heaven. I'm wondering there are no more people complaining, as I have a pretty clean desk 98 % of the time and can't really blame myself.

did the 2017 model solve the keyboard issues?

There don't appear to be as many issues with the 2017; but this does not mean the issue with the keyboard is resolved. I think it is heat related, mainly from the gpu, because my 2016 failed 4 times - and had a 460. The Kaby Lake 3.1/560 replacement did not show the issue prior to my selling it.
