there hasn't been a notebook with a built in graphics tablet since the old Thinkpad W710 (the insane one that had two displays)

Surface Book doesn't count?

The MacBook keyboard is awesome. Use it for a day and you won't want to go back to those fat and sloppy keys.

I've tried multiple times and I can't get used to it. Looks like I'm not alone in that regard.

Whatever, but bring standard ports like Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 Type-C (reversible) generation 2 to all Apple devices, together with SDXC supporting maximum read/write speed (300 MB/s).

OLED Display? YES! Finally! (apparently it won't happen, sadly)
OLED Strip? Please, No!

It may start with an OLED Strip and it will end like the Homer Simsons' designed car

I believe that article only mentions a new 13 inch MacBook. Not the new pro model though.

Oh, i misread. Ya, the rumor is for Q4. And not even the prayer of a rMBA. That's all horrible - 4 years of nothing but gimped machines. 5 years of nothing if you were looking for an upgrade on your display.

If Cook keeps putting margins in front of innovation, there are going to be no margins at all.

What's everyone's problem with the 12" MacBook keyboard? I think it's the best keyboard Apple ever made, and I wish it were available on the Pro line as well. I can consistently write much faster on this one than on the current Pro keyboard (and I am a fast typer). I guess to each his own...

For every rumor there are 100 negative children posting childish ramblings.

1) It's possible to have the awesome stability of a butterfly keyboard but combined with the travel of a MBP keyboard - best of both. Why assume it won't?
Because key travel takes actual physical space. Which they are removing. At some point, you don't have travel because you don't have a place for the keys to travel to.

That said, my biggest problem with the 'thinner lighter' mania that Apple has been on is that it's coming at the expense of repair and upgrade ability. I know a lot of people don't actually use that, but on my current Mac I've replaced my hard drive twice, the graphics card twice, added a couple of new hard drives, and expanded my RAM. I've replaced the hard drives and the batteries on my parent's laptops. And none of that is possible on current Apple machines. I'm looking at replacing my (ancient) Mac - and I keep wishing I could get a Lenovo or something. They are very nearly as thin and light (if not more) - but I can still repair and maintain the machine to keep it useful, instead of it being a 'throw it out when it breaks' device.

This is interesting, I wonder how reliable the report is tho (there are a lot of rumours that turn out to be false). Maybe Apple could announce the new MacBook Pro's at WWDC and they ship/become available later.

*SIGH*
Looks like I'll be holding onto my trusty 2011 17" MBP (that I actually bought in 2011) even longer.
....
Build a goddam 17" MBP already!!!

Here here.

I just paid way too much for a late 2011 17" to upgrade my early 2009. Waiting, waiting...

Apple: 17" laptop users might not be the majority but we are power users, brand evangelists, and those with a non-substitutable need (until you give us fold-out, 20" screens, of course).

I've been waiting for a MBP upgrade ever since I sold the 12" MB because I couldn't stand the keyboard...this isn't going my way, is it?

Same, the Macbook keyboard feels terrible. The iPad keyboards are much nicer even. I'd hate to see Macbook Pros going to a terrible keyboard, those machines are so great to type on.

Not sure about how real that OLED stripe thing is, not really an Apple way to do things. Then again, there's no Steve to shut down stupid ideas anymore...

i wonder if this is why Apple is holding the WWDC keynote at the Bill Graham Civic building? A big event to show off the new Macbook Pro's with a new design and new features (OLED panel). They could show off the features of the new OSX at the same time (Touch ID for Mac and Siri for Mac) and using one of the new MacBook Pro's. Just a thought.

Touch ID on Mac is welcome & looooong overdue.

Instead of a "touch bar" I'd rather see each individual key as a small OLED screen, intelligently and beautifully displaying the exact function the key has at the moment (including small/caps letters, specific functions for apps like FinalCut etc).

I had this sort of idea in 2003 when I bought my first Mac. One of the things I missed moving away from a PC was the ability to use Fn keys to launch programs.

I had the idea of the dock on a Mac actually being a row of configurable LCD Fn keys.

Please, no. There is no reason to do this. Apple already slimmed down the keyboards in the 2015 MBP. Just keep using that.

Also, Intel IGPs all around!

And they'll go with the ULV in the low end 15" bwahhahahaha!

I am in the Market for a new MBP and have specifically been waiting for the new graphics tech to be out which rumoured to be much cooler and lower power due to a die shrink. The other big thing for me is TB3 connectivity as I really do think it will be the version that takes off, I even have it on my Windows based Gaming desktop which is cool

all sounds ok except for the keyboard. Bought my wife the 12" macbook, its the by far the worst keyboard we've used and a big reason will be returning it. Can't stand it. Issues with keys getting stuck all the time with dirt/crumbs. hate it.

Please don't poison the Macbook line with this BS.
It looks like something like a PC OEM with no inspiration would do.
Lenovo did something similar once on the Thinkpad X1 Carbon and went back to a classic keyboard on the following generation.

I really need a new MacBook. I've been waiting for more than a year now but there simply is not the right MacBook out there. I would have bought the new MacBook if it was $999 but no, it's just way too overpriced. I would have bought the Air if it had a Retina display but no, they rather released a new MacBook just to sell it for a ridiculous price. So there are only the Pro's left. I haven't bought one yet because of the new ones out in the pipeline. I really hope they don't do anything stupid to ruin my last hope to actually get a MacBook worth the $$$.
