If we run with the 16th as the day of "release", I will venture to say orders will be delivered to both the stores and to home customers on the 15th. That would give them time to put them on the shelves to sell beginning of the next business day...

So Tuesday it is!

Yes, that's right! Good catch. We have them 'by the 16th'. So the bulk will be on out friendly neighborhood UPS guy on the 16th!
(assuming it's UPS. I think it's UPS ).

But probably not earlier; except for the mistakes and time zone crap (always these right? :D

And once again, for all the OCD nerds. You can have UPS hold it at the depot, so you don't have to wait for it, or if your guy comes late. You can get it when they open, which is pretty early. My delivery guy comes around 7:30pm!!! (or later, and 7:30pm is the cut off time)

So.......

I believe, based on past product launches, that these MacBook Pros will be coming directly from China and are not already stateside. Considering that it is already 1am on Saturday morning in China, I do not expect to see a status change and tracking number until Sunday night/Monday morning. Therefore I expect delivery around Wednesday next week. Just my opinion. Anything earlier would be a pleasant surprise.

Does that mean they are shipped by airplane? I always thought that with huge shipments like these they put a whole bunch of computers in metal containers and shipped them by boat.

I believe pre-orders are by plane and store inventory supplies are by boat. That's why there was an iPhone 7 shortage for a brief time before Apple paid off Long Beach fees for some shipping company.

Apple pretty much buy the entire pacific air freight network around big launches like this. They could ship them but rather a slow thing to do. Easier and technically cheaper to buy up air freight space. Margins allow for it!

Hmm, I hope that's the case! I ordered a 15" BTO with an expected delivery of Nov 25-Dec 5 and still no joy. I don't think I have ever wanted to see $2900 get charged on my credit card like this before. Coming from a 2010 MBP that I use heavily for school.

I'm hoping for a Monday or Tuesday delivery since my girlfriend will be home and able to receive the order those days. If they come later in the week, I may have to change to pick up at the distribution center...

Although I can already tell I have this tickle in my throat, feels like an illness will hit me sometime late next week, likely the day of delivery. I'll be forced to take the day off. ;)

seems the only ones being prepared for shipments are the customized configurations. No base models?

Most likely all base models are already in the US and will be shipped accordingly, BTO models since they are custom, were built custom. So they are coming from overseas and most likely need extra shipping time. I bet all base stock models will come from US places

I think they're normally charged as they go through the system. So BTOs are charged just before being built. Base models are pre-built and so get charged when shipped.

I am guessing that we will see computers preparing for shipping through the weekend. They are likely printing labels and staging the shipments, quite possibly on pallets to be flown from China. As another user said, they likely won't move until Sunday night in the US.

In a third party manufacturing/Warehousing (3PL) situation it is pretty common to pack pure or mixed cartons that are sent to distribution centers and re-distributed from there. However, with this being a new release with a likelyhood of minimal stock on hand in the distribution center, drop-shipping from China is most likely (meaning it will originate with UPS at the factory and will be delivered directly to customers). As such, I'd be very surprised if these computers were already stateside.

Of course, it is possible that Apple has been stockpiling certain configurations at the manufacturing facility or in countries.

This is the dilemma I have. The nearby UPS store is not the depot where the UPS driver comes from. If I choose to have it held the delivery guy actually drops it off at the UPS store which means I can't pick it up till next day.

My stock 15" just went PFS sometime in the last hour. I checked around 9:20am Central US time and it was still processing. Should be ready to move probably Monday.

Uhhh, guys? My stock 13" still says "processing" but now has a delivery date of 11 Nov 2016-18 Nov 2016.

What is going on???? I'm scared!

K I'm sorry but can we please stop contacting Apple customer service which doesn't know anything more than we do! People are wasting their time...

Now my only question is... Now that it's night time in China, is it too late to hope for shipment before the weekend or is it confirmed that they won't ship before Monday?

Sadly mine still says processing....But what I'm most curious about is that my delivery date still says 17 Nov -24 Nov which would mean that to match the 17th they'd have to ship it very fast.

(Europe btw)

Why do you even ask this? what was the logic behind this questions?

Not sure why I received a hostile response, but to answer your question, one of the first people who posted that they had been charged in this thread had a 4-5 week delivery time after modifying his/her order. S/He also happened to live in my area, and I was curious if any others with a 3-4 week+ delivery time had received charges.
