sorry if it's already been mentioned in this thread, but the new macbooks will be at Best Buy stores on Tuesday for those looking to just get the standard configurations (non BTO).

how is everyone migrating their info from previous generation macbooks? wondering if the wifi transfer is reliable

Thunderbolt or FireWire is a great option. Though you'll need some sort of adapter. Either a USB-C to FireWire dongle and a FireWire Cable, or a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 1/2 adapter and thunderbolt cable. It'll be much faster.

Anyone in australia get shipping yet ? or are they doing a batch ship & domestic courier in sydney again ?
No-one in Australia seems to be getting shipping notifications yet as far as I can see. I was given a 15-22 Nov delivery window for a 13 BTO, had my credit card charged on Monday and am still in Processing Items.

Are you sure that will work? USB is client-host not peer-to-peer like FireWire or Thunderbolt. Will a USB-C cable work for migration assistant?
Yup.

I'm in the exact same situation as you. Any chance you orderd a silver MBP? That's what I ordered. The spreadsheet floating around appears to only show space grey machines that have shipped. They also appear to be the majority of what people ordered.

Glad to see people having their orders ship today, but it's leaving me a bit confused. My wife and I placed our order within about 20 minutes of the store coming back up after the keynote was over (base 15" with the only upgrade being the video card to the 460...one for each of us 2-3 week shipping Nov. 17-25 delivery).

Our card was charged on Monday and our order was moved to Preparing for Shipping on Thursday around the same time as everyone else. I'm seeing a lot of people that are saying that their order has shipped while our order is still sitting at PFS for well over 48 hours now.

This is the longest I've ever had an Apple order sit stuck in PFS. Hell, we're also seeing people with 4-5 week shipping range being shipped already. I wonder what is Apple's logic in the order they process orders....some of this just isn't making any sense.

I have 16-23 (Brisbane) and im still on processing - ordered literally the second things went live (had a spec list preselected)

Likely on UPS 85, which left 6:22am.
Wrong, I have the same status as him. He posted this on 6:20 EST time, and the flight left 6:22am in china which means it left at 5:22PM in EST US. My status is still departure scan and I think it will be on next flight ups80.

This is basically my situation, but I ordered a Space Grey one. My original ship dates were in the 3-4 week group, though I got PFS at around the same time as everyone else.

Huh? How does that prove its wrong? The status was updated about 20 mins before the flight left.

My Shanghai to Japan flight was about 20 mins before flight left. Now I have a departure scan from Japan @8:25am, UPS Flight 81 left Japan at 8:38am.

but I do remember that the departure scan(I have the same situation, so i track every 1 minute) happens 20 minutes after ups85 is on air(shows on air in flightrader.com), so assuming the departure scan is real time, the package is not on ups85?

Did you order more items? and how did you get the same window as me, did Apple upgrade your shipping to 2-3 day?
Nope, just a BTO 13" TB, no more items.
Yes, I called the other day, and they upgraded this order to 2-3 business day delivery with no extra charge.

Gonna start with a clean install (been a couple years since I've done one) and using a USB-C to micro B cable to pull files from my iMac's external HDD.

Actually, yes, both of ours are silver.

They update to departed before the plane takes off, usually when its finished loading on the plane, just before takeoff. So 5:59 departed matches a 6:22 actual flight time departure perfectly. Guess we will see when it lands.

Maybe you are right. Since I missed the first flight which is ups81 and my package should be in the second flight which is ups85. However, ups85 is ahead of ups81 right now since ups81 stops at Japan for some time. Maybe I am the first group in US to receive it.:)

Going to use gigabit Ethernet to move my files. Not worth paying for a thunderbolt to USB-c adapter just to speed up my transfer.
