I am not planning on getting it. I have used Apple laptops (and desktops and all the other stuff) for over a decade and have never once needed it. So I'm taking my chances and go without.

I'm an advocate for Applecare. I've only had severe Apple-computer-death happen twice in 18 years, but it saved my bacon and paid for itself each time I *did* need it.

For people who bought the new MacBook Pro, did you guys get the applecare? Is it worth it? I'm debating whether if i should get it.

For me, it was a small enough percentage of the total price of the laptop that I felt it was worth it for the peace of mind. Especially with everything being non-replaceable by me...

I'm struggling with 1TB (in stock at local Apple Store) or 2TB BTO (supposed to be delivered 11.22-11.30, but hasn't changed to preparing for shipment yet nor has card been charged). I currently have a 2015 MBP with 1TB and I only have 32GB free, which is why I've been leaning towards 2TB.

Also, secondary issue is if I do get the 1TB model in stock, what monitor should I use with it, I have been waiting for the 5k LG.

My existing 2015 MBP setup is connected to 27" Apple LED Display and 24" Apple Cinema Display, which I don't believe are compatible with the new MBP.

The more I think about it, the easier decision it seems to just wait another week or two for the actual computer I want instead of settling for 1TB less, which would also solve the problem of waiting for monitors since in 2-4 weeks we'll be able to order the LG 5k...Sigh

Editing a 1080p video in Premiere has been buttery smooth considering I'm upgrading from a 2012 non retina 15inch. 15" With Touch Bar and AMD 460 takes less than 4 minutes to export a 1 and a half minute video (not sure if that's bad). However, it gets REALLY LOUD and a bit hot. Is this normal? I haven't tried FCP yet, but if this is not normal, I might just return it lool

I am also debating on getting it, as a student, that extra $380 CAD hurts a lot. Although, I talked to the staff at my local apple store and they said I have a year to decide if I should get it or not (though I'm leaning more on getting it, cause yes, it's for the peace of mind, considering I've had HD issues from my old MacBook Pro)

I don't even get what is the problem. You have a 2015 version of the MBP and just around 10 days to wait for your new computer. Unless your 2015 MBP is dying and you really need a computer, I don't understand.

It is a, how you say, 1st world problem.

I didn't,

In Belgium we already have a 2 yr legal warranty and my visa card extends this with an additional 2yr.
Apple care will probably give me a better coverage but I think for me it's not worth the extra cost...

Well my journey in this thread is over....I will likely still check in time to time to see how it is all going. Hoping delivery continues to beat estimates. Mine beat it by 6 days.
So far I'm really liking this new computer. The touchbar is actually looking more useful than I thought. It really blends in to the keyboard where as I start to forget that it is there. TouchID is awesome, I just hope it can be used for more things soon. Keyboard is better than the 12"rMB by a fair margin. I'm happy with it so far and can type really fast. Much faster than my 2012rMBP and much easier than the 12"rMB.
The display is nicer than the 2012rMBP. The speakers blow the 2012 away. I was listening to a youtube video that was obviously dubbed wrong and had to have the 2012 at max. The 2016 was a few clicks below mid-vol and was louder than the max on the 2012. The screen can get crazy bright...I measured 516 at max while calibrating to 100. But the range is like a log scale. 100nits on the 2012 is a few clicks below the middle on the 2016 it is a few clicks above middle. Then it gets crazy bright from there on....
Anyways enough of my 2hr mini-review...The wait is worth it guys...this thing is a keeper so far!!

You don't get an education discount on AppleCare in Canada?

I am having to wait to get mine delivered December 19-23. My current 2012 rMBP is having trouble. Apple says it won't ship any sooner and since I got an education discount it has to be shipped. They said I wouldn't get the discount if I went to a store and they had a config. I liked. So I am stuck with waiting until December 19-23. Not feeling happy and hoping my current will keep working.

Nicely said. I'm upgrading from the same machine and I'll be getting it on Monday. So excited!

Has shipping been coming in on time or around the estimated date? My MBP is expected to deliver right before thanksgiving and it's still stuck at Processing. Getting a little worried since I used the Barclaycard interest free & it needs to be charged by the 27th.

Tonight I was able to walk in and buy my Space Gray 13" Macbook Pro with Touch bar Core I7 and 16Gb RAM at Apple Store Dadeland Mall, Miami, FL.
Even tho in Apple Website it said there was no availability for this configuration at the store.
Got the Education discount too ;D

What's the config? & how much does it come out to with education discount?

I had this concern last week and did a chat with customer service. They said the Barclayscard didn't need to be charged within the 30 days since the purchase was booked when I ordered on 10/27. FWIW, I had the same timeframe and my MBP is PFS as of Wednesday but still hasn't shipped. Hopefully, your machine is coming soon as well.

I received an email from Apple today relating that my 15"BTO (store pickup) was delayed by 2 weeks. Oddly, I had to call and confirm my order or Apple would cancel. The original order was placed shortly after the Apple Store came online with a Nov. 17-25th delivery range. Any others receiving this message?

Ok, I have 9 days left before 30 days, so I got a little worried. I just hope my 15-inch doesn't come with any issues cause I'd hate to lose out on the interest free.

How were you able to get an education discount at store? I was told they would not give it to me.

I received the very same email notice today via email for my fully spec'd out BTO 15" Space Gray MBP. It was slated to arrive Nov 25 now changed to Dec 5. I also placed my order online at Apple shortly it came online as well. Purchased with my education discount and requested to ship to an Apple Store for pick up.

Hope the 2016 MBP arrives soon to replace my early 2011 15" MBP which has been a good workhorse for almost six years, but it's a bit slow for photo/video editing.

The woman had me on hold for about an hour while she shuffled around from department to department trying to find somebody who could replace the part.

She then came back and told me to take it to an Apple Store. She didn't like the fact that my nearest Apple store was 4 hours away. She said she had run out of ideas and was going to put me in touch with a specialist.

First thing the specialist did was try to suggest that I should drive the 4 hours, 8 hours round-trip, to my nearest Apple Store because it would be an "instant replacement". As if, lady. As. If.

I don't understand why even a supervisor can't pull some strings to have the Online Store order me the 87w adapter at $0 instead of having the balls to suggest I drive 4 hours to go get a warranty replacement. They're in stock online.
[doublepost=1479485150][/doublepost]Anyway, long story short, she said she'd call me back today while she does more research into how to get me a replacement power adapter. How hard could it be?

Wow, that's pretty terrible. So I'm guessing you're not getting to charge your new Mac in the interim? If you got AppleCare, ask Apple to compensate you for the days you couldn't use your computer because of their faulty adapter by extending the end date.
