I must say, any concern about the keyboard is well and truly overblown.

After about 24 hours typing on this keyboard, it's easily one of my favourites. I am so much faster typing on it than I was on my 2011 MBP. The keys are so accurate and easy to press.

The keyboard is a little clicky tho. I imagine it will get quieter with time (or I'll get used to it.)

I placed an order for a 15" 2.7GHz, 1TB, 460 a few weeks back, and delivery is scheduled for Dec. 15+. I walked into my local Apple store this morning and they had the 2.9GHz version of the machine in stock, so I picked it up. Now I need to cancel my other order.

In the end, there's a chance that I'll return this one as well. I have a 12" MB, and will use this new machine much like a desktop 99% of the time. An iMac would probably be a better option, but I'm concerned that shortly after buying an iMac, Apple would announce a non-incremental update.

I ordered 15" 1tb, otherwise maxed at 5:20 pm pst. on oct 27. Today got p4s status. Still says same Nov 25-Dec 2.....I'll let you'all know the progress to Northern Ca......

Hi all!

I ordered my MBP october 28 and have a shipping date dec. 6-12 for now, but not PFS yet.

So I am reading multiple articles, also on this website, stating it impossible to upgrade RAM, SSD etc.
This has me a bit scared looking to the future. I do have apple care, and am 100% fine with the MBP surviving only 3 more years.
I ordered the 15" MBP 2.7gHz(all stock options, advised by an Apple business representative on the phone).

I am a fairly simple user, I download, I netflix, I use mail, Word, Excel, Google Drive and that for 10-14 hours a day (both business and casual).
Currently I hold the magical 17" MBP 2011, in which I can upgrade SSD/RAM which I have done, but still it is becoming a bit slower/older now.

Should I cancel and upgrade, or is it mostly for heavy photoshop/video editors?

Thanks 🙂

I tried the keyboard of the new Macbook Pro at a local Apple Store – and I liked it! Yes, it is louder, but I had no problems at all with key travel. To be honest, I had the impression that I am typing faster on new new butterfly v2 keyboard. Mine still hasn't shipped so I'll need to wait some more days until I can enjoy the new keyboard with its touchbar 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

Order placed 3 AM after announcement - was looking at Nov 28-Dec 5 delivery.

Cancelled yesterday, ordered on B&H (no sales tax) yesterday, and 15" base model arrived today.

My 15 inch BTO going to U.S. just went from Processing to PFS and my card has been charged. Anyone know how long it usually takes before officially shipping?
My 15" BTO also going to the US went PFS 48 hours ago. Nothing since then unfortunately. I was hoping it would've shipped by now.

it arrived! thank you DHL. for any others: base 15" with exception of 1TB HD, ordered after keynote, shipped 11/16 from Shanghai via DHL, arrived to Boston today.

Just placed an order with B&H. Supposed to be here on Tuesday! Didn't get an education discount but it was tax free so I went ahead and paid the extra fee for one day shipping and it came out a little over $1 more than Apple.

Was that a base model or BTO? I'm considering doing the same thing if shipping will be that much faster.

15" base. They had some other configuration options on there. I only looked at the 512GB option and it was only still up for pre-order. I didn't look at the rest of the options.

RIGHT? I love the new Keyboard...though I think it could be a little quieter since it could be a little obnoxious typing in a silent room during a meeting lol

Ordered my 15inch MBP with Radeon Pro 460 and 2.9Ghz quad core i7 (left 512 Gb SSD as I have many external hard drives for space hungry data). I placed the order the next day on Friday October 28th. It's been 4 weeks since then, and my order continues to say "processing" with an estimated delivery on Nov28th-dec 5th. Not sure what's taking Apple so long to bill me and ship my new toy. It'll be replacing a 2010 MacBook (white unibody) core 2 Duo, ram at 8 gb, with a 250gb SSD.

Not sure how you count your weeks but the way I count it's been exactly 3 weeks since you ordered

I ordered it using my Employers Employee online Apple Store but I am not sure if that gives me expedited business shipping. My expected delivery date has been Nov 25th - Dec 2nd.
So it says by Standard Shipping right? I talked with a support saying my shipping is still expedited, but with 2-3 shipping date. Still no charge and no PFS.....the words "processing Items" really kills me

Isn't that a BTO so it wouldn't be found in store? I've checked multiable stores and they have 15 inch 2.7ghz versions but the second I change something it says they don't have them. What store did you go to?

sorry to hear, not sure why yours is so delayed. I was hoping everyone who ordered on day 1 should have got by now atleast in usa.

For people who bought the new MacBook Pro, did you guys get the applecare? Is it worth it? I'm debating whether if i should get it.

I don't usually get it for most Apple products, but with one this expensive I did. I want to keep it at least 3 years. I had it for my 2012 MacBook Pro and had occasion to use it a couple of times.

I'm leaning toward getting it. The price combined with all the new tech in these makes me feel like I might be better off with it than not, even though I am usually not inclined to pay for extended coverage.

I am not planning on getting it. I have used Apple laptops (and desktops and all the other stuff) for over a decade and have never once needed it. So I'm taking my chances and go without.
