Does anyone have info about in-store pickup for either TB MBP? Just before Thanksgiving, here in NYC, all models were available for immediate pickup at the 5th Ave flagship and at a store in Queens. Now Apple's website is quoting Jan 1st for instore pickup at all NYC area locations. Is this just a Black Friday stock wipeout?

Ordered and already received yesterday (26 November 2016), so far this is the best MacBook Pro experience that I ever had so far
15-inch MacBook Pro (with Touchbar and TouchID) - Space Gray
• 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB memory

(really want to maxed out the option especially want to go 1Tb storage option)

but without AppleCare, since here in my country there are still no officials Apple Stores

I ordered an 13" Macbook Pro w/ 16gb of RAM. I am getting very impatience and thinking of just picking up a stock 8gb RAM MacBook Pro from my local Apple Store (5 stores within 25 miles have it in stock). I only use web browsing, e-mail and Microsoft Office. Is 16gb of RAM over kill?? Should I just get the 8GB RAM MacBook Pro? I plan to keep my MacBook Pro for 5-7 years. I currently have a 2010 MacBook Pro - Thank You

Im in the exact same boat and have been thinking the exact same thing. After reading online how RAM requirements could change in the coming years (not drastically but enough to cramp 8GB) Im holding out for my Order.

Ordered on 11/4. No charge, and Processing. Hoping for some movement this week.

Amazon has several options. The one I am looking at is a 2 pack for $10 USD

I will continue to wait patiently. I guess we need to future proof our laptops.... as long as I get it before Christmas.

My order was placed on November 11/7. It's just a waiting game now :(

I also ordered on the 31st. But over in the Midwest. I'm expecting some king of movement in the next few days. This based on what others are experiencing.

Ordered November 1st hoping to hear something this week. It is still processing and it hasn't charged my card yet. Unfortunately, I won't be able to grab it until I come back from University in the middle of December.

Go 8gb. Even in 5-7 years, MS Office, browsing, and email will never need that much. Your computer will be lightning fast compared to your 2010 MacBook Pro.

Hi all, new to the forum :)

Ordered a Space Grey 15" MBP / 2.9 / 1TB / 460 on 16 November; delivery between 19 - 28 December. Based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Just to clarify, there is a one year warranty on this, which I can extend to total of 3 years with AppleCare? So I don't have to order this right from the start, I can purchase it at any point before those first 365 days expire?

Thanks and cheers!

Apple your killing me, first gives me a delivery date of 06/12 then adjusts to the 01/12 now today its back to the 06/12 :(

how is it that people are able to get the same spec's as ordered available for pick up off the shelf while online placed orders are taking so long to deliver????

G'day mate, and welcome to the forum. Yep, you are absolutely correct on your assumption to the AppleCare. You can go and buy and register a AppleCare license at any time within 364 days (just to be safe) and you'll have a total of 3 years of AppleCare, couting form the day you received your beautiful new MBP.

Got a 21-30 Dec window myself, as I initially ordered one on the day the MBP launched, but cancelled it again to go from 512GB SSD to 1TB. Found out from iFixit that the SSD it not upgradeable.

Good luck waiting :)

Received my 2016 MBP 13 base model yesterday. I had a 2014 MBP 13 previously. Not much difference in performance that I can tell because I'm not a power user. It turns out that lack of ports is not a big deal for me. Nothing a $9 USB adapter or a dock couldn't fix. I had no problem getting used to the new keyboard and I might actually prefer it over the old one. Love the machine.

Just ordered my 13" Touch-bar 2.9GHz/8GB/512GB for in-store pickup at Apple in Birmingham, AL. Their stock level was green showing pickup for today 11/27

Oh, but Apple claims no one can get topped out spec machines in store and in their opinion, people are not being honest. According to Apple, if you up any specs, that computer has to be built just for you. What a load of lies they are trying to sell people.

DISPATCHED!!!

Just received the email. Estimated delivery 5th Dec.

Ordered on 30th October - UK.
13 inch Touch Bar base spec [Foreign Keyboard].
"Delivers 6 Dec - 12 Dec by Standard Shipping"

Checked again... ETA 30th November !!!

That's correct, you wouldn't need to purchase AppleCare right away so long as you purchase it within the first year you should be good to go. Personally I've always bought it right off the bat but that's just preference. Good luck & enjoy! I've got the same machine & it's a dream.

What made you get the 8gb over 16gb? I am trying to decide if I should go stock 13mbp with 512gb or get a bto with 16gb of ram.

Not sure why they do this. I have done this twice already in 2013 and just last week. Topped out high end models. It's possible they do it for upscale in the store or for business customers but stock is always less than 5 or so and employees really don't know about it but it is on their portable search devices they use. Just have to look for it. Everytime I had to tell them where to look and in several stores. Last week they had one in silver and I grabbed it ven though I want space grey . I just was not willing to wait until Jan 3rd it would have been too late for a job I have than. But if your willing to walk in and spend that kind of money they can be had. Just hard to find right now

Today I looked at istocknow just for fun as they only show 512 GB models not the 1Tb but looks like Apple had a huge weekend as across the country stock is really low . So they are selling like crazy. What happens a lot is folks go in and can't get exactly what they want and they just buy the most expensive unit they have on the spot if the store has them. It's most likely why they only carry the base models but can upsell the high end units.
