@jacksterg51 I ordered a 2.9, 460 on the 31st and it is still processing but I think we should see some movement in the next week.

I was told just over a week ago that my order was “on allocation”, meaning it is being assembled.
lol processing order means being asembledd, apple told u all bs.

mine delivers...TOMORROWWWWWWW

Not sure why they do this. I have done this twice already in 2013 and just last week. Topped out high end models. It's possible they do it for upscale in the store or for business customers but stock is always less than 5 or so and employees really don't know about it but it is on their portable search devices they use. Just have to look for it.

I wonder what Apple does with canceled online orders. I get the sense that JIT trumps ell else, so they wouldn't just put them in a warehouse in China. Cheaper in the long run to just send them out to the stores.

I suppose its also possible that stores can order higher-spec machines for their own stock, maybe holding them back for business customers.

I've gotten that impression. That stores can and do order some higher spec machines for business customers. It would make some sense.

Simple

You order online and you know your delivery date, so you are not going anywhere.

You went to store to pick up a computer and if they tell you that you cannot take one home, but order it and you will get it later, you might go to microsoft or BB to pick up Windows.

Just a quick update. I got the base touch bar 13" and had buyers remorse that I didn't get the maxed version as I was already spending so much on the laptop. I didn't want to wait until the end of December for the maxed laptop so I called all the Apple stores within a 30 mile radius of myself in AZ and said manager when asked what I wanted. They all directed me to the inventory guy at the actual Apple Store. Turns out the last one I called, Arrowhead Apple Store had 2 of each color in stock. I ran over there and picked it up with an education discount for 2350 plus tax.

On a side note, I originally got the space grey but it started to feel more and more like a PC. It also showed every fingerprint and smudge. I missed the sleek and classic silver so I decided to go for that instead. There is just something about the classic and timeless silver color that really makes the MacBook Pro iconic.

What made you get the 8gb over 16gb? I am trying to decide if I should go stock 13mbp with 512gb or get a bto with 16gb of ram.

Honestly a little lack of patience. But I've monitored my task manager on my windows work machine to try to develop an actual baseline.

I know it's not a Mac machine but during my average workload running Outlook, multiple Autodesk design softwares (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks simultaneously), Chrome up to 10 tabs, Skype, Slack, and a plus or minus a few Adobe apps I rarely breach 4GB. So I figured the my RAM concerns may have been a bit overblown

This MBP will not replace the work machine, but will be my personal machine, however I figured if those were the numbers doing real work, then 8GB should cover my home needs

Just saw on QVC, they were selling a 13" MBP bundle but not the newest model. The model they were showing still had a disc drive built in.

From my experience macOS will always use almost your complete RAM, so if you have 8GB, it'll use about 6GB. Of course this is often not necessary, but keeping your recently opened files and apps in the RAM, even when you don't need it is neat. But macOS in general has a very good memory-optimisation which helps swapping RAM from background apps – which will be even better when you consider the new SSD speeds. Right now I have 8GB in my 2013 rMBP and never had problems with it. I never close any apps (right now I have 7 desktops and 21 opened programs, also including many professional software such as Xcode) and I restart about once per month when a new macOS update requires it.
So all in all 8GB will be totally fine, especially when you just use it as your "personal machine". However more is always better ;) I decided to get 16GB this year, mainly to have it future proof for the next 3+ years. And I ordered 15" which has no option for 8GB anyway.

And when it comes to real memory hungry software, such as deep neuronal networks, both options won't be enough. This can quickly grow up to 64GB+. So you should better get optimised hardware for such needs, maybe a server.

In my understanding of a lean process they would try to avoid any inventory and I assume that the deliveries to the stores are planned ahead.

My guess is that probably they would be able to reschedule the production until very short time to start producing the units, and in case that it is cancelled when the production can not be rescheduled they would send it to the next in line not already in production with that exact configuration.

Don't buy this machine in the year 2016. I guess it was last updated in 2011. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It doesn't have a retina screen, and still has a traditional HDD. Using a Mac on Sierra without SSD don't make any sense IMHO.
There are much better offers for used Macbook Air/Pro from 2012,13,14.

I ordered a new MBP 15" with track bar. I just think it is funny that they were touting is as the latest, when that is not true.

Ordered 15-inch MacBook Pro, Touch Bar, Space Gray on the 1st Nov while in store, on my business account.

2.9GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM
1TB PCIe-based SSD

Current status: Still Delivers Dec 8 - Dec 14, no credit card charges, still "Processing Items"....

Looks like orders made on the 31st Oct are becoming PFS so hoping to see some movement in the next week.

Keen to see what the Photoshop touch bar integration is like!

I ordered mine on the 28th of October and still haven't had any movement. No credit card charge either. I'm in the 4-5 week bracket with delivery date of 12/6-12/12. This past Friday marked 4 weeks since I placed my order. 13" MPBTB BTO.

I ordered my 13" on October 27th, and was originally in the Dec. 5 - 9 delivery window. I went into PFS on Thursday night (Nov. 24th) and then "Shipped" and my machine was at my door Saturday afternoon. So, all in the span of 3 days. I think it's likely your order will move at a rapid speed soon!

I sure hope so! I'm a very impatient person.. I'm surprised I've waited this long. This is why I don't preorder stuff. I don't have a choice but to wait any way because I checked all the stores in Florida today and none of them have the specs I ordered...

Did you pay for expedited shipping? Mine went PFS on Monday and didn't ship until Friday where it's still stuck moving between China, Korea and China again.

If anyone here from UK you can order the Macbook pro 13 from John Lewis and get delivered on Tuesday 29th. An it's also £100 off.

I ordered mine on Nov 25 (waited to see if there would be any Black Friday discounts, suffice to say I was disappointed). The order is on "Processing items" and I expect it to be there for a while since my estimated delivery date is Dec 23 - Dec 30. Plus, being a custom order means it could take even longer.

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray
  • 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB VRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD

Yours should be soon. I ordered mine on 28th as well and I had dec7th-13th window shipping. Mine went PFS last night so hopefully it ships on Monday.

If i want to do a clean install of sierra on my macbook coming tomorrow, do i need to do one of those bootable USB drives then?

Anyone know what options I have if I wanted to get a mouse for my Mac? I don't like the Magic Mouse and every other mouse needs a regular USB port to connect either a wired mouse or a wireless mouse receiver.

I'd go with a Bluetooth mouse like the Logitech MX Master. I will use that when mine comes.

I mean, it already comes "cleanly installed" out of the box. But if you really wanted to reinstall Sierra, boot it up with Command+R and wipe/reinstall.
