2016 Macbook Pro, Order/Shipping Thread

If i want to do a clean install of sierra on my macbook coming tomorrow, do i need to do one of those bootable USB drives then?

Not sure why you would want to do this, considering it comes with a clean install, as long as you don't migrate any data over.

Feeling hopeful! My maxed out 15" (ordered on Oct 31st 12:15 pm EST) now says preparing for shipment! Still says available for me to pick up in store on Dec 14th - so no change there - but hopefully it arrives quite a bit sooner. Will update if anything changes.

Update (posted Nov 28th): The charge for my new MBP is processing on my credit card - began processing yesterday. An encouraging sign things are moving!

I ordered mine on Nov 25 (waited to see if there would be any Black Friday discounts, suffice to say I was disappointed). The order is on "Processing items" and I expect it to be there for a while since my estimated delivery date is Dec 23 - Dec 30. Plus, being a custom order means it could take even longer.

Did you pay for expedited shipping? Mine went PFS on Monday and didn't ship until Friday where it's still stuck moving between China, Korea and China again.

I did not! Standard shipping and I never contacted Apple about expedited shipping or anything to mess with my original order. I was expecting mine to spend quite a bit of time in PFS based on everyone else's experience. But, mine never showed any tracking information in China, Korea or anywhere overseas. FedEx told me it shipped from Harrisburg, PA and was at my front door the next afternoon. Very strange.

I been trying to decide if I should get 16gb of ram or 8gb.... what made you get a stock MBP instead of 16gb of ram? (I spend all weekend reading all 386 pages of this thread) LOL. How long do you plan to keep your system?

This gives me a bit of hope. I live in the area where Apple ships from Harrisburg, I ordered a stock model (15" 2.7 GHz), and I see that orders from October 31 are now showing some movement. Maybe, just maybe...

I ordered mine on the 28th of October and still haven't had any movement. No credit card charge either. I'm in the 4-5 week bracket with delivery date of 12/6-12/12. This past Friday marked 4 weeks since I placed my order. 13" MPBTB BTO.

What were your specs? I also ordered a 13" with TB. Mine was a 256/16GB/3.3 and it shipped on Friday. I am sure yours will probably ship in the next day or so.

Not sure why you would want to do this, considering it comes with a clean install, as long as you don't migrate any data over.

there's some speculation on reddit (r/apple), that the battery issues can be fixed with a clean reinstall of Sierra. idk what the success rate is, but it seems to have worked for a few people

I'm a relatively light user, and 16gb almost seemed like overkill. I've been back and forth on it since I ordered it, but I just don't think my activity justifies the full 16 (but I think it's good to future proof, too!) I'd like to get 3-4 years, I'm hoping on 8gb that will be possible...

And finally, my 13" BTO MBP (2.9, 16, 512) went to PFS and my card was charged!!!

I ordered November 2, so that is a significant jump from the Oct 30-31 we were seeing here yesterday.

Yes, everything looks good.
Expect a movement by December 24th, in the week before your delivery window starts.

Today (28 nov) my order changed to 'delivery to store' (translated from french). And the available changed from 2 december to 5 december. Does it really take 1 full week from the factory to the local apple store for pick up? Or is this like a worst-case scenario, such as to not disappoint people?
