I ordered mine from a reseller and they told me that the maxed MBPs were taking the longest to get delivered.
Same configuration for me. Shipped today as well, same ETA. Ordered 12/24View attachment 682699 Mine is on the road, too!
Does anyone know if BH gets directly from Apple or vendorWell, I'm just playing with the configurator on Apple's website, and you can change pretty much anything and get free January 17-19 shipping. But as soon as you jump to the 460 graphics card, the ship dates jumps back to 2-3 weeks.
EDIT: B&H Photo seems to have stock of the 2.9/460 config in every storage configuration. If you bought your machine retail, you can save some serious cash here due to the lack of tax outside NY, also, free shipping.

Unfortunately, I bought my machine with an EDU discount so the machine is more expensive on there than it is here.

These notebooks seem a lot more fragile than the previous generations. Big impact or something else?
I have never used any skins or protectors for MBP but it looks like I 'll need one. Any recommendations?
I got my 2.9/2TB/460 from B&H in one day. The box over the white Apple box had a shipping label directly from A.I. 558 Aldi Blvd, Mt. Juliet TN. 37122 to B&H Photo in NY. Googling is a bit cryptic, results vary but it does say Apple Inc., and also mentions a privately held company. Anyhow I've spent thousands over the years with B&H, been to the store in Manhattan and have always had nothing but top notch service for computers, cameras, lens, and other tech gear.
How long was it in the "preparing for shipment" phase before it shipped?

Check your credit card terms. Sometimes they cover new products for accidental damage or even theft in the first few weeks
An update for anyone wondering about shipping times. My machine is a 2.9GHz/1TB/460.
Order placed on December 25th. Charged my credit card at 5am Eastern on January 9th. Changed to preparing shipment the night of the 9th. Shipped noon Eastern on the 10th. FedEx says it'll be delivered this Friday by 10:30 am (13th).
Folks, call Apple and tell them you need your machine urgently for ______ reason. They WILL upgrade you to 2-3 day shipping FREE OF CHARGE. I am not sure why they don't allow you to do this at checkout, but any rep that says they can't upgrade it is lying to your face.
Start to finish would have been a 19 day process from the time I placed my order to the date I receive it.

I had a refurb 2015 that I returned. Just got the 2016 one according to coconut battery my 16' was made the same day it shipped. I was surprised.
