My co-worker is deciding between these two. He will only use it for internet, typing documents and no games. I suggested get the 15" because it's only $100 more. What do you recommend?

  • 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB memory
  • Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID

vs

  • 3.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Intel Iris Graphics 550
  • Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID

Does he have any preference regarding screen size/weight? The 13" will be a bit more portable. I suppose if he wants to keep it a long time, the best bet would be to simply buy the 15" since it has more powerful components, especially if the difference is only ~$100.

So my original expected delivery time was between 9-11 November
So apple just sent me a message that my shipment is on its way and expected delivery date is 15 Nov. Da hell apple, i already had to wait over a week and now I should wait more
CURSES !!!!! (mojo jojo rant)

Hey can you show us the shipment confirmation you received ?

Seems that there are more BTO items requested then non. Also, considering the 2-3 week delay, it could be possible that all orders are technically BTO (i.e., they calculate how many of each config are made and queue them up accordingly on the assembly line). I don't seem to see any people with 1/2TB SSDs being charged (I'm in the 1TB camp btw), which would obviously be a low number of orders.
My card was charged at 7am ET this morning for my 1tb BTO. No change on website yet though. Ordered at 3:03pm EDT on 10/27 with:
15"/2.7/460/1TB. (
Can't wait!
Edit: delivering to east coast of USA with delivery date 11/17-11/25

This person is likely confused or ordered a non-Touch Bar MBP. None of the Touch Bar machines had shipment estimates that early.
Where in my post did i say I ordered a Touch Bar version ? Yes I ordered a Non-touch bar version.

The 2016 13" MacBook Pro is actually one of the worse buys out of the group.

2016 called, how many of those ports you got to charge your iPhone or plug in a USB stick bro? There are around 50 billion existing USB device that use the Type-A port. I don't have a single USB-C device and I don't have any plans to get one anytime soon. That fancy new iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black 256MB I just got doesn't have a USB-C connector and I don't plan on upgrading to a new iPhone for at least three years. With the money I saved I was able to get an Apple Watch.

Reality called! Why would you have any USB-C devices if you have nothing to plug them into that has a USB-C port? Why would you plan on buying anything with a USB-C port if you have nothing to plug it into at this time. Your statements here make absolutely no sense. If I need to plug in a USB Type-A device I have a cheap adapter to do that with. So tell me are you only buying USB 1.0 devices because you want to stay tied to the past?

With the future comes change and that change will not be staying with USB Type-A ports!

If the new MBPs do indeed start shipping in the next day or two, then hopefully we'll see some reviews out this week too!

Placed my order for a non-touch 13" MBP with 16GB RAM on Saturday.

Says "ships on 1-3 business days" and 'delivers 11/11-11/15.

Anyone else order on Saturday receive an order update? I'm getting antsy lol

ive been refreshing my credit card account like crazy and still no charge :( i ordered right away after the event also.

Yay! I just got my first USB-C accessory delivered, the infamous usb-c > usb dongle.

Now, let's get these machines out in the wild!

15" MacBook Pro, 2.6 GHz, 450, 1TB SSD BTO - still no charge, still Processing. Ordered an hour or so after the event.

When are we expecting reviewer units to be received? How the reviews turn out will considerably affect my decision to keep or cancel my order of the tb model of 13".

If customers' orders are already being fulfilled (which it appears they have begun to be), you can be sure reviewer units have already been long since delivered. My guess is that there's a review embargo that will expire sometime this week.

They more than likely already have them, embargo probably ends tomorrow or Wednesday morning. Walt Mossberg said they'd be discussing it on this week's podcast, which I believe posts Wednesday.

Based purely on past experience with numerous orders direct from Apple, theres a least a solid chance that anyone charged today (at least in the US) will have it in their hot little hands by Friday but definitely early next week
