BTO 15" 2.7/460/1TB, ordered a few hours after the keynote, received an email from Discover about the charge last night. I also called and confirmed with Discover that since I placed the order before they added an exclusion for Macbook Pros, I'll be getting a full 12% back on the purchase. Can't wait for shipping confirmation. :)

Wait why are you getting a 12% again? I also have discover

looks like all BTO's being "charged". It could simply be an auth hold before they build these custom machines. The stock ones they will just send to stores if a charge did not go through. The last thing they want is to be stuck with BTO machines.

Naaa this is final charge. I had pre-auth after I ordered, this is new.

It's curious though why it hasn't switched to P2S as to prevent cancellations now as the final charge has gone through.

Does this usually happen? As in, did it happen the last time the MBPs were released?

5% bonus through Apple +1% base, and I'm still in my first year so everything at the end of year 1 is doubled. They added an exclusion for Macbook Pro about a day or so after the new models went on sale, so I wasn't sure my order would qualify.

Not sure to be honest

I don't think you can confidently say that. I have had pre-auths appear multiple times while waiting for orders. It is pretty common for a new charge after "x" amount of days.

If they do not ship today, it was a pre-auth.

I'm BTO and I ordered within a few min of it being up. Not charged yet. Shipping to store.

This is my BTO 13" configuration, I wonder why I haven't been charged yet, I ordered at 12:02 PDT on Oct 27?

When you sign up for Discover, your first year is double cashback. Apple.com has a 5% cashback + 1% standard * 2 at the end of the year = 12%.

I was too slow, lol.

But having so many so suddenly from the first round of orders? Will see if it turns up in my statement tomorrow. I'm fairly sure this is it.
I've never had multiple authorisations from my bank here in HK.

This is unprecedented. Macbooks normally don't have this much demand at once. However, one could argue it's more of a supply issue, so nothing is certain.

Anyone know when these usually hit stores?

At this point, I'm not expecting anything beyond scattered availability until well after the holiday season. Apple made its announcement before production lines were ready, before they even had demo units available for all their retail locations. Most of the production runs this month will go to customers who have already ordered. Because shipping times are currently sitting in early/mid December, that tells me retail stock will trickle out until production catches up. The best bet might be third-parties like Best Buy, who likely have a guaranteed allocation to sell in their stores.

Nope, not all. My BTO remains uncharged.

Is there virtually any difference buying from a third-party vs Apple?

Ordered this maybe 15 minutes after the keynote, have not been charged (other than the $1 auth charge when I ordered) and this is still "processing".

13" BTO
2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
16GB 2133MHz memory
512GB PCIe-based SSD
Intel Iris Graphics 550

Ordered the same bto config and have not been charged. No movement on my order at all.

Does everyone get the $1 authentication charge when ordering? I placed my order for a preconfigured 13" as soon as the online store reopened after the keynote, but as of now my order is still "processing" and my credit card statement has no charges from Apple.

ordered a 15" base BTO + 512GB SSD 26 mins after keynote ended - still no CC charge, located in USA. Estimated delivery says Nov. 17-25

This is same config as me. I ordered around the same time and my card was charged today.
