Does everyone get the $1 authentication charge when ordering? I placed my order for a preconfigured 13" as soon as the online store reopened after the keynote, but as of now my order is still "processing" and my credit card statement has no charges from Apple.

I also have zero charges from Apple, that $1 authentication charge isn't for everybody then? Mine is said to arrive between 16-23 Nov.

Any one who upgraded shipping to Next day got charged today.

I order 13" BTO and upgraded shipping to next day. I have not been charged yet beside hold of $21.40 from 11/3/16 when I upgraded shipping.

Order on Oct 27 2:40pmEST
Still processing Delivers Nov 15 - 22
13-inch MacBook Pro - Silver
3.1GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5
8GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
Intel Iris Graphics 550
256GB PCIe-based SSD

I did get a $1 auth when I ordered after the keynote which fell of this weekend, and now this morning I was charged for the full amount.

If Apple has tested your details are genuine with the $1 charge before they usually won't do it again. For example if you use the same card for iTunes/App Store they know it's legit.

The area of China is 13 hours ahead of EST, which is why folks are getting charged in the wee hours of the morning. It's 3:31am there now. Probably nothing happening at that hour.

Not true. I'm getting the 1$ test on every order, every song, every app and every TV show on iTunes.

If is a factory in China. I can pretty much guarantee they run 24x7.

My thoughts as well; but there still might be some significance to the timing. It's possible, for example (and this is just conjecture, I obviously am not privy to Apple's manufacturing systems), that there's a "point" once per day where the days (24 hour) orders are handled. All who got charged today seem to have gotten charged at the same time. Which leads me to believe that the folks over at the Foxconn plant had a fixed amount of Macs they were going to produce in this upcoming 24 hour period. And, what I think is happening, is everyone whose Mac is going to be built in this 24 hour period was charged at the beginning of the "day".

It may even be that everyones BTO order was charged today, and then the stock models that are built will be charged when they are boxed and ready to ship; instead of prior to being built. Charging the BTO order models now makes a lot of sense; because it can kick anyone out of the queue whose payment didn't go through, and make more room for stock models so that they can get those machines into stores.

not everyone's BTO order has been charged today. I am in the 11/15-11/22 date range. there are some others on this forum that have yet to see a charge either.

Seems legit. Guys u know, at least for some parts of their billing pipeline, Apple uses a certain BigCorp ERP backend which is all about batch processing.

No, I didn't mean to imply everyone's was. Just that there's a common 'theme' in those who got charged today. They all seemed to have gotten charged at the same time, and all seem to be BTO. That tells me that they are doing this in big batches and not order-by-order.

i guess i shouldnt expect to see a charge till tomorrow morning then if im in the next group of those who are being charged o_O

So, after reading the posts in here, it's safe to say that the estimate delivery date I received, is nothing more than a estimate.

There's a chance I may not see my purchase by the end of the week? lol
