i just re-downloded warcraft 3 (which you can play again btw!!) and on battle.net i don't know how to get the fps but lets just say that my internet is often the thing that slows down before the game does. in a full 4v4 battle with full armies it doesn't lag at all. now no more staring at a frozen screen and hoping that i won somehow.

Got my Rosegold m7/512 Macbook Yesterday as well. Installed Windows 10 1511 with bootcamp and tested a few games.

Smite 1440x900 - Low - 56 FPS - Med 43 FPS - High 33FPS
Minecraft 1440x900 - Max Solid 50-65 Fps
Ark Survival Evolved 1440x900 - Low 20fps

Any more you want me to test in Bootcamp?

Games like Counterstrike Source, Team Fortress 2 and Runescape :)

Counter Strike Source and TF2 any where from 150-200 FPS on High 1440x900
Runescape 15fps Low 7FPS on med-Ultra - Seems poorly optimized, specially for its lack of graphics.
Rocket League - Low 60fps - Med 45fps - High 28 Fps 1440 x 900
Left for Dead - 60-150 Fps - All settings 1440 x 900

I was actually pretty surprised at rocket league being UR3 Engine.

Wow, that's a huge difference compared to Left 4 Dead 2 using OSX on the same hardware. Guess I'll have to buy a Win 10 license for my gaming needs

Perfect ! Cause that is the exact model that I want to buy.
How about some more recent titles ?
Like Assassin Creed Syndicate or even Black Flag
Splinter Cell BlackList
Counter Strike : GO
GTA 5
Max Payne 3
and Might and Magic Heroes VII

For me if a games can play on a higher low or medium on 1024x768 and keep a stable 30 frames for me that is good enough. I play games very casually and I don't care about having the latest graphics.

thank you in advance !

Have you got Dishonored?
If so, do what you do best!

Sorry for spamming, but if you've got Dawn of War 2, please do give it a whirl!

Looks hokey, but it works great. Put little cardboard tabs on front legs to provide space for ventilation, and the little fan to provide extra airflow + it keeps my hands from getting moist. Running low on everything except overall texture which I have set to high. 68-75 C. Very smooth. I might play around with the settings a bit.
EDIT: I have the 2016 m3

Just been playing Dirt 2 on my Macbook this morning.

Works absolutely fine as far as I can tell. Nice and smooth.

Didn't expect it to be playable at all really. Just shows how things have moved on.

Also was messing around with Daz Studio and 3DCoat and both of those 3D modelling / rendering programs work perfectly as well.

when you guys sit around for hours gaming, doesn't it bother you that at the same time someone is making money, picking up girls you dream of and getting in shape for more social opportunities that make life exciting? I used to game years ago and after every hourly session I felt the high wear off quick and then got hit with slight depression when I saw others succeeding in the world.

You do understand that what you talk about doesnt nearly fill up the entire day, you could do all that and still game many hours per day.

I'm going to categorise this under blatant flame bait.

Back on topic, Left 4 Dead. What settings was it played at to achieve 150FPS? That's really high!

Why don't you start with the part on making some money?

My personal gaming time comes in the last 2 hours of the day chief. My boy if homework and bath done we do coop game play on the xbone for like 30min to an hour minutes if he wants before bed. Also ties to a budding attempt at video streaming for him if you must have something productive be done.

I get video editing experience, he gets to be a youtuber. there is your productivity. Sadly not getting much hits. Wish I/he did...research into how lucrative successful streaming can be. It will blow you mind based on your stance on gaming. But overtime he is getting more comfortable and confident in speaking and presenting to a potentially large audience. So another mission accomplished there, development of self confidence in a child.

Already worked my job, did the family man bit son put to bed...people need downtime. I have the day job that meets needs just fine. Some words of wisdom...no one on their death bed goes man I wish I spent more time at the office. just some food for thought as you seem a bit work goal oriented.

rest of this....man I may reinstall lfd/lf2. Always liked that game. In a season 6 rush for d3. could be a nice diversion from diablo 3 season 6 rift runs every so often.

As long as work is also fun, yes. I didn't speak against playing a game from time to time, I just didn't like the alternative you proposed (even when I knew it was only a joke, as was my reply). Your post reminded me about my favorite games, the ones I co-oped with my son (Guild Wars, WoW, KOTOR etc.). Unfortunately he has other interests now.
