Thanks for the post. Some people who are not in a business where the tool cost is earned in hours or days struggle with justifying the costs. For me, there is no compromise on any equipment and if the TB13" is best for your uses then all is well.
Value is perception , you are totally right - I just dropped $4300 on a TBMBP which will be to keep me going until April or whenever the new iMac comes out [to replace my overheating 2014]. It will then be at home for an after hours work computer, or if I feel lazy and don't want to go into the office [which I can do as I am the boss]. This computer will pay for itself easily in this period and is there just to generate more money.
Also I agree with the cars - I will spend any amount on the tool to get the job done to the best I can, but in no way will waste money on a depreciating asset like a car [if it was my hobby yes, but is just a vehicle]. Cameras on the other hand..........
I used to love upgrading every year to a new machine, but now it seems the cycle is on 2 years, and also the excitement has gone in it - I love my tech but really just need it to work every day, day in day out without issue, with the reassurance I can easily get it repaired / replaced - Apple offers this and no other manufacturer comes close [this is in Australia].
