Regardless of what device you switch to, it will likely still support usb C and all your adaptors will continue to be relevant.

If USB-C becomes the standard, the adaptors will be irrelevant. I swear, Gary Larson must have been a MacRumors moderator.

Keyboards and mice, which just have male USB-A usually? It's not just USB but also HDMI and the others. It sounds like you just bought like 20 different cables and started making decisions about which peripherals you can buy, all of it temporary because later peripherals are going to be USB-C (I hope). What did you gain, the ability to plug the connector in either way?

No I just bought replacement cables for the peripherals I already had. Why do you need to plug in a keyboard and mouse to a MacBook Pro and why aren't you using wireless ones anyway??

Nothing is temporary none of those peripherals have USB-A on their end either, they have the USB-B, or Micro-B or Mini-B or 3.1 B etc. Eventually devices will be USB-C on both ends (or hard wired USB-C) but it won't make any difference to me.

I got rid of my USB 3 Sata adapter and got a USB 3.1 Type 2 connector so now I can get 550MB/s with Sata 3 drives. I bought a couple of actual Thunderbolt 3 drives. I literally have nothing except really old USB sticks that I use a USB-C adapter for (and to be honest if I actually used USB sticks much i'd just buy a USB-C one too)

People on here always bring up HDMI (Which wasn't in a USB port before anyway) a port I've never used once in the 10+ years it's been on a MacBook Pro. I have no idea why people are plugging their MacBooks into things with HDMI cables that they so desperately need to travel with, but apparently everyone on this forum does it (at least those who don't own the MacBook Pros)

I gained a much better laptop with symmetrical ports not random things on each side, the ability to plug anything in on either side, the ability to charge on either side, the ability to buy replacement USB-C charging cables with easy and to have chargers in each room which was very expensive with Apple's proprietary connection before, the ability to have smaller connectors and yes reversible, i've always hated USB-A, big, clunky and always plugs in the wrong way.

also I don't need the insecure touch id, typed password is better.
Well I mean that really is just utter nonsense.

Just a heads up for everyone, sure that most know this but I did not and I'm a long time Apple user. I recenetly purchased a new MacBook Pro and my 14-days were up on 7/11 for return. I reached out to Apple and found out that when a new product is released in the same product line the return policy is extended to 30-days. I was able to go into my local Apple Store and return the old version of the MacBook Pro and get the latest version. Hassle free I might add which was a huge relief! Hope this helps others!
