This is an important point. I’ve been saying for *decades* that Apple’s bubble will soon burst. They’re just now starting to get competition. Before, the only reason they sold so much was because the competition wasn’t competing. Mark my words. Now that they actually have some competition, Apple’s going down, boss. Down. Any time now.

I honestly cannot tell if you’re joking or not.

Edit: ok, your edit and second reply make me think you are... Maybe

This guy knows where it’s at. Apples doomed. Or something.
They’re actually making it so hard even for me (the person who’s been buying their products for over a decade) to justify any upgrades these days. I was looking forward to this new Air, but again there are too many compromises at this price.

I have wondered about this lately as it concerns me as a shareholder. I came to the conclusion that Apple probably has a large business base that is set within their system now to accommodate the higher prices for these devices. Kinda like why the tickets to the super bowl are so high but they always sell out. Corporate gets a hold of it and business expenses are justified.

Any satire was completely coincidental. Or something. ;)

I *might* have been joking a little there. All seriousness aside, I worry a bit about the rising prices. Some of it can maybe be explained by inflation. Still, if the prices get too high, sales will slow.

It was a beautiful piece of parody. A perfectly judged reflection of absurdity that fooled people into thinking you’d actually believe that. Well done sir.

Apple have comp in phone sales but there is zero competition when it comes to watch end tablets

"Engadget did question Apple's removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack".... you can use an adapter. Engadget it so hit and miss. Their "journalists" can be pathetic at times.

Except MacOS would be awful on an iPad. It isn’t designed for touch screens. Microsoft has been trying for years and still doesn’t have the right balance.

As a user of Windows 10 on touch devices (HP laptop and Surface) for 2 years now, MS as it right. Win 10 works great on touch.

I have touch on my HP Windows 10 work notebook. I disable the touch feature. The application scene is worse. Adobe Acrobat is just awful now since it tries to accommodate both touch and mouse, and fails miserably at both.

For me the iPad Pro was the main artist of the show.

I'm an owner of the 10.5" and the iPhone X and was ready to give the iPad Pro away to my half. I was truly impressed until I've noticed that they bumped the price up and than pause ...

This is something that is really starting to bug me quite a lot every year! I remember the times of SJ when they launched more advanced stuff at a lower price than the competition flagships. That for me was another touch of genius of SJ when they launched the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4S ... the devices that made the revolution not what came after to milk his legacy with the customers ... I felt then, that the company had a sense of fair play with their loyal customers. Even if you were a bit skint on money one could still do it. Remember when Apple decided to offer the updates of iOS and macOS for free and the iWorks suite? A good will between both parties if you will. This generated the Apple Golden age ... That is how I felt the world could change.

What I see now with this increasing price bumps is something totally different. It's not about changing the world anymore but making a buck out of anything, including their stupid keyboard. This is usually the indication of the decline of a civilisation .... The Trumps of the world and the Wall Street became their best friend I guess. Never though that artists were the ones with the money in this world. So I guess the product its about making you feel like an artist even though one has no talent!

Yes the new version should be better than the previous at the same price, isn't that the point? Anyone can make a better version at a higher price. The the initial iPad launch, probably the most difficult of the iPads to get done right, was $300 cheaper in a time where the value of the dollar was way down.

Considering how EXPENSIVE the inflation adjusted price (before they were forced to cut the price), the first Iphone and Ipod were, and almost everything done by Apple over the last 30 years, I think you have no clue what Jobs was truly about. You are basically rewriting history in your own mind to fit your own narrative.

The only part that surprised me was using Amber Lake instead of Kaby Lake R. I guess they want to maintain a processor differential for the Pro. HP manages to get decent battery life on the new Sceptre 360 with the 15W i5 within a similar weight and size package.

Once again no mouse support, no true file manager, a bamboozled usb c connector.......i can do more with DeX on the galaxy tab s4 even if its processor is not even close and the tab s4's display blows this ipads and previous ipad displays away.........everything I actually want is already on the galaxy tab s4. I treat my ipad pro 10.5 like a simple non-productive tablet due to iOS limitations. I will not be purchasing another one until they fulfill my desires so the 10.5 is here to stay as a limited tablet for the time being.

blah blah blah blah blah.

In case you didn’t notice, Apple released a $329 iPad that works with the original Apple Pencil earlier this year. It’s the top seller. Now that the Pencil won’t work with the new iPad Pro that I ordered I’ll be giving the old Pencil to my nephews, who will be receiving the aforementioned $329 iPads from their parents this Christmas.

I think this iPad together with marzipan is the portal into an ARM Mac.
First have the developers develop high quality, fully functional apps like photoshop, etc for the iPad/IOS, and have the ability to convert them to ARM macOS apps with mouse /keyboard operation, would be the next step.

Music “pro’s” definitely won’t be using a poor quality analogue output that is fiddly to use when they can output high quality digital via USB-C. Can we all get over the loss of the headphone jack already?

At adjusted inflation rate $499 from 2007 to 2018 would be $600 not $800. A bit tired of this argument of prices being higher and higher due to either inflation or the price of dollar, because the numbers don't add up if we consider that the main reason. We are talking about an increase of 60% in the price of Apple innovation (flagships) across the board.i

The truth is, the price is going higher at at a rate way above Inflation because according to Apple, the value of their goods today is higher than it was in 2010. While people keep buying at high numbers that will be correct. When people stop buying, that will no longer be correct. What will do they do then, lower prices?

There is a very good reason for this. Apple is no longer the small fish from 1998 to gain attention. Investors and Corporate guys realise that the innovation magic is gone and they don't know where to go next, as they are not as passionate about the business as Jobs was.

They figured now that our brand is at all time high we can charge whatever prices we want incrementally and we will milk the people before the down fall in 5 or more years (in which Cook might very well be gone). So they figured lets ride the wave as long as we can get away with it. There are many companies who were on top but due to lack of innovation and guidance are no longer in competition. Sony in electronics, Atari in Videogames, Chevrollete in cars, Dell in computers, Sega in consoles, Nokia in cellphones, ... you name it.

That being said, due to lack of competition MacOS is still best OS out there over the horrendous Windows 10, its the most consumer privacy concerned, the Apple eco system still best eco system, and Apple hardware still most well designed. Until some one comes along and creates the better alternative- like Jobs did with the iphone-we will still be dealing with Symbian and BlackBerries. In this case, we will continue to deal with Apple prices and outdated tech.

Does that mean I can hook up my USB-C monitor to the iPad an mirror the iPad?
Will it have access to peripherals plugged into the monitor, like hard drives, mouse and keyboard?

anyone know if it supports video in - to use as a second monitor when attached to a mac? I know you can use apps like duet but native support would be good

Hence the concern, in the long run, that Apple is becoming a high end niche premium brand while others like Samsung, Amazon, and Google slowly start take the rest.

They are under no obligation to not extend their product lines with more offers at different price points, or stop selling in unprofitable markets. Got that. If there is no profits directly from the sale, or from subsequent services, they cut the product or extend to where the profits are.

Now, go buy something else if not satisfied, or quit whining. You got the choice.

Rest of what. If they have 5% profit and Apple 95%, that's still 5% profit for the rest and almost all the rest to them that's all that really matters in the end.

Google and Android already have the rest btw, since 2010, and Apple obviously been doomed ever since (and even beforehand obviously when we count laptops...).

Humm. I know that I have a choice, don't need you to tell me that. I know that they have no obligation in that or any other regard. My intervention was not about if or not they are obligated to do this or that.

I'm talking as a long time customer that shares their principles on many things. To talk as a member of an executive board I have my own company, don't need to come here!

You also have a choice just to shut up while avoiding insulting people intelligence. Stop wasting my time reading whatever you have to say pretending to be more than you actually are in this context, just a simple customer, at most a shareholder.

Have fun.

I really hope is ok. Good will, that is correct word. My good will is reaching a breaking point has I see non in the other side for a long long time.

If I’m right, he’s not okay, the problems lately might be due to an inability to stay on top of things, in which case he’s got a few more years, then maybe we see a product worth the scrap in it.

Had high hopes for this one, but I’m left wondering if there’s a bug in Calendar that makes them think this was April 1st, or if they just had very full bladders and decided to see just how long they can void on their customers before people start closing their mouths.

Apple has set this up perfectly. The price points are aimed at beating the Intel competition. Then, leapfrogging them next year.
