Gonna suck for all the IUP users who would like to upgrade to the new iPhone on launch day.

Why? You’re allowed to upgrade once you’ve owned the iPhone for 6 months. And then you just pay up to 12 payments.

So if someone like me bought iPhone X on launch day, when I do the preorder I’ll just have to make 1 additional payment and will be able to upgrade to the X Plus.

I'm curious what they will do for us? Am I going to have to pay two payments on my X along with first payment + tax on the new one? Or will they let it slide for day one users?

You’ll have to make one additional payment, trade in / give back your current iPhone X and yes you will pay first month’s payment and tax on the new phone. Just like you did originally.

Wouldn't it be good that all this would be a hoax

Everyone geeing up for the event, and taking pre-orders, then Apple delays it... lol

I hope an event does happen... but still would be fun it this became true.

It will be December for me anyways since that is when the unlock version will be available! Buy a T-Mobile model has many less radios inside it! It is a suckers buy IMO!

Think we’re all well versed in the release pattern these days. Doesn’t take a genius does it?
Takes a Genius to figure out and a Front page news too.

This is the first year that I may not purchase a new iPhone. I've owned every one since 2007 but I love my iPhone 8 Plus Form factor so much and don't want to move to FaceID or the Notch. I hope that they'll keep the iPhone 8 form factor for one more year.
8 formfactor will not leave. I feel they will still tend to the bezel users for a couple more iterations. If they go all in and move away, that will be lots of "courage" to see tbh.

I didn’t say everyone. "We're" relates to those who read my statement in the forum section of a Macrumors article. Pretty strong chance anyone here is clued up on the release strategy
You said “we’re all.” I ain’t aruging with you. Just saying. That’s all.

Why? You’re on the iPhone Upgrade Program? You can still order when ordering goes live ya know.
Yes we can but it won't be 12 months which is the earlier out date for next model. Unless Apple makes and exception to waive 2 payments.

to waive 2 payments.

If you bought an iPhone X on launch day, you will only have 1 payment left when the preorders start for the new iPhones.

In order to upgrade you have to make 12 payments. What’s gonna happen is you will just make 1 more payment while you’re checking out for the new phone. You’re already eligible to upgrade.

You’re eligible after you’ve owned the phone for 6 months.

I would agree with this rumor. I think September 12 seems very likely, followed by the pre-orders on the 14th. I think the real interesting factor will be if Apple has all three phones available this year on release day or if it might be a separate launch like the 5.8 X was. I believe the 6.1 LCD iPhone was rumored to possibly launch later.

Sadly this won’t be the case for UK carriers

I gave them two extra payments on my previous phone, waiting for the X.... So it seems like they could throw us a bone and let us upgrade on day 1.

In the UK, we can upgrade after 11 payments on the iUP.

I got a day 1 8 Plus last year and Ive got my 11th payment coming out this week, after that I’m teeing up for an X Plus.

Right, just wondering if Apple will waive that payment. I'm guessing not, but its a bit of a unique situation.

Exactly. I guess we can upgrade day 1 regardless, but it will be a little silly if I made 2 additional payments on my iPhone 7, but also have to pay 2 additional payments on the X.

It’s not Apple’s payment to waive.

They can relieve Citizen Bank of a larger portion of the debt than they would have in normal years, though. All that currently happens is Apple takes your phone and pays the remainder of the loan. They can do the same thing but pay slightly more which in effect "waives" a payment.
