hopefully the SE form factor stays the same. my mom does not want to learn anything new.

So do i, just upgrade it to an A11 chip, add 3D touch, put the better touch ID sensor in, maybe some more RAM, update the camera and call it an iPhone Classic.

The notch is here to stay - it's Apples new home button & is a design choice to differentiate the iPhone from the other phones in the market.

If you see a phone with the display off and a round home button - you immediately know it's an iPhone, even if it was a prototype model that no one had ever seen, you'd still know it was an iPhone.

Apple aren't going to give up that kind of product recognition and if the iPhone X had a purely rectangular screen - it could easily get confused with a.n.other Chinese Android device. But now when you see the notch, you see an iPhone & the two will live together for another 10 years & be as iconic as the round home button.

Incidentally, I too only see notches...

"But now when you see the notch, you see an iPhone & the two will live together for another 10 years & be as iconic as the round home button" - this is EXACTLY what I am terrified of. Now that they have adapted iOS to it and created new gestures and people are used to it... Yeah, it's probably here to stay, but I am still screaming inside and have not accepted it.

What does this statement have anything to do with that user upgrading to the iPhone X from the iPhone 6 Plus? Wouldn't that be blatantly obvious that the home button is no longer in existence once someone upgrades from a four-year-old generation device to the iPhone X? Also, What metric are using for 'Many?.

I upgraded from a 7 Plus, to an X and yes I was very aware that the home button was not there. What you realise very quickly is that you may or may not like the new navigation..... its not intuitive, unlike all iphones beforehand.

I used both devices over a period of two weeks, hardware wise the x was superior in all regards, except screen ratio.

User experience wise, i prefer the 7, with the home button. User experience is very relevant, I went back to my 7.

My 'many' is about as valid as your 'monumental' personal opinion, ignore my 'many' if this sidetracks the issue im talking about here, which is user experience . If you really must know, in our team of 20, who used the work iphone x, they were divided about 50/50 about the missing home button.

Maybe not, with Apple. At least, there’s no way they’ll drop the ears for a full width bezel; that ship has sailed.

However, if that 6.1” is for real, I don’t know that it gets a notch, it might just get a full width bezel at top (not as large as on the 6/7/8 series though) with minimal bezels on the sides and bottom.

Rounded corners I can believe but I’m not at all sure about a notch on the LCD model.

I agree. The notch on the LCD looks unlikely.

If the notch is to continue in all future iPhone design I must keep my 7 Plus the maximum possible time.
When I go to the stores to see if the notch grow in me, nothing happens. Worst when I take a look to the others low bezels brand design.
Yes, it's possible to have low bezels and keep 16:9 screen ratio. I don't mind if the top bezel could be a little bigger to acomodate the 3D TrueDepth.
Also I don't like to see on screen only the battery status. The percentage % plus battery icon is more usefull.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X20

I don't think that'll happen given that Intel XMMS 7560 will include support for CDMA/EVDO which will open the door to Apple dropping Qualcomm completely. In the end Apple is in a stronger negotiation position with Intel than they are with Qualcomm. Intel have faced the reality that their CPU will never end up in a mobile but they do see a future in supplying components and if it means providing Apple with modems that keep the fabrication facilities busy then it'll be a tidy little money maker once they gain credibility and others might start to look at Intel as a supplier too.

Have you considered that the upgraded antennas allow faster data transmission on the same signal strength as before? Improvement in technology allow more information to be imparted with fewer resources -- much like how advanced video codecs allow higher quality video to be transmitted with lower data bandwidth.

Next time you're at the dentist, ask them about their digital X-Ray system. The same images of your teeth as before, but shot onto a sensor and captured digitally instead of a piece of film. That technique allows them to get the same images with a much much lower amount of X-Rays.

This is all fine and dandy, but the real truth is you, myself, my dentist and even Tim Cook have no idea about the long term ramifications of cell phone usage. As signal strength continues to become stronger and stronger, and tower coverage increases by city who really knows for sure what damage it’s doing to our bodies etc.

There have been some cases reported already about the negative effects of cell phone usage, and soon we will be rolling out 5g lol

Why? The iphone is now a mobile computer so a bigger screen is desired to get work done. If you want the small screen you can get iphone 5.

Because not everyone wants to carry Phablet or mini tablets as their daily phone in the pockets.
Options are good, but i dont see the point of having 3 big phones (5.8", 6.1" & 6.5") that almost having the same size without offering smaller sized phone as well (4"-5").

If you want bigger screen use iPad or Mac, you can get more productive there. I want to be able to use my phone with one hand and don't get wrist pain problems.
[doublepost=1511352065][/doublepost]iPhone X is already too big for me, even iPhone 8 screen size is too big for me. I feel like no one cares about comfort, it's pure greed for a larger screen. Bigger phones is serious ergonomic risk, I believe people can damage their wrists and develop RSI because of it.

So, if there is throttling due to the FCC net neutrality thing, is this putting the cart before the horse??

What they gonna call this? An iPhone 8S? iPhone 9 iPhone 11? iPhone X squared? iPhone X2? iPhone XI? I’m confused!?
They've done cats before, I think it's time for dogs to get their fair share.

iPhone X Timber Wolf

Why wait if you want it right now. Just go for it. You won't be disappointed. I am using my X form past 20 days and it's been a great experience for me.

No it was a joke, it's what everyone on the threads will be asking now. I wasn't asking this myself!

Yay...So with this new gigabit modem I would be able to get 40mbps instead of 20mbps?
It all depends on your carrier, what their towers support and where you are.

Around where I live and work, I pull 180mbps over cellular with the X.

I have zero issue about notch. It's going to be there until Apple finds a way to place the Camera and sensors with in the display.
If they'd put the camera, sensors etc in an angle inside phone and project the images with mirror, they could minimize the notch to a thin bezel. Also the Protruding back camera.
Sideways the lens has more space and with mirrors they would not have to show directly upwards from the screen.

I would like to see an iPhone 8 size screen without the top and bottom bezel. Some of us like small phones.

Absolutely. I saw someone trying to write a new message on an X and, of course, they had to shuffle the phone in their hand to reach the icon... Slick.

If they continue the SE I hope it also gets a physical redesign rather than a processor bump. I'm rapidly running out of decent one-handed phone options, price not an issue, don't care if it costs the same as a bigger phone or is thicker to accommodate new cameras etc..

Last I checked Apple is still a multinational company selling its products on 6 of 7 of earth’s continents. FCC only has authority in 1 country, granted a big one. Also FCC’s commissioners all have expiring terms.

Not a good comparison at all. I go to the dentist yearly. My phone is in my pocket everyday.
