Let’s not get too indignant that an American company first rolled out a new feature to the American market.

Just a new? lets rephrase it ”many features that are not available outside usa” because apple has become a ******** company in a world when it comows ”features outside usa”. Rest of world is paying as much and more but getting the basic while apple is introducing even more feature inside usa.

Apple needs to add ECG to Series 4 outside the US first before worrying about the Series 5.
Maybe they can start with their nextdoor neighbour.

That's one of the reasons, I bought the Huawei Mate 20 Pro instead of the iPhone XS max.
My iPhone X resides inside the drawer and both Sim cards are inside the Mate 20 Pro.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is so much better and I can use the iPad Pro's usb-c charager and cable.
Will switch from Apple drive to Drop Box or Google Drive or OneDrive to live in both worlds.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

After owning two ceramic Apple Watches and how they’re basically impossible to resell I don’t think I want another. I had so much trouble selling my Series 3 ceramic that I gave it to my dad instead. The ceramic finish was also very difficult to keep clean. Seemed that a simple wipe didn’t remove sweat marks instead require firm rubbing whereas now with the stainless steel Series 4 it’s very easy to clean with a cloth or sometimes a shirt.

What do you mean? I never see sweat marks on my ceramic white Apple Watch, and it’s always scratchless, compared to the stainless steel Apple Watch I used to own.

I’m not sure if your conflating your own negative experiences with the Ceramic edition with the resale difficulty? Did you try pricing it at 50% or less of what you got it for?

But starting at $1250 with for the ceramic model for the Series 3, it’s just generally too much for the consumer to want to spend _that_ much on a smart watch

That is not true. In fact, I intentionally did not buy the series 4 because it didn’t have a ceramic option.

Same, I'm still rocking my Series 3 grey ceramic! A SS just seemed like a downgrade in my case.

Damn do you think it’ll be hard to sell my Hermès Series 4? I hope not. I mean, I don’t think I would even get rid of it just yet.

When ECG gets through each countries regulations, then it will be activated.

If the rumours about non-evasive glucose monitoring becomes reality; will be a game changer.

Nailed it here. Its up to each countries regulators etc., so like Apple Pay it'll trickle out as each country allows it and presumably just be enabled on the watches as it occurs (like Apple Pay).

It’s so easy to take pot shots at Apple, isn’t it? Way easier than, say, reading the article, where you’ll be reminded of this:

It’s not Apple dis“allowing” anything. It’s the approval process in other countries that’s taking time. And children, let’s not get too indignant that an American company first rolled out a new feature to the American market.
Countries can’t approve anything if it hasn’t even been submitted for approval by Apple. So far they haven’t even attempted to get approval within Canada, arguably the easiest to do so, due to proximity and similarities.

It’s been almost half a year since launch.

I wouldn’t hold my breath people.

Well, then...excuse me Mr "I know it all" Forgot that you work for Apple and have all the info there is.

No, just look above messages when people has asked about their authority if apple has left applications or not in their country. I have also asked and our authority has no record that apple has left any application that is needed for ecg.

Your refutation doesn’t really imply anything to my post and lacks substance. Let’s break this down:

It’s common knowledge, the ceramic is _not_ nearly as popular due to the exorbitant price point as the aluminum would be, simply because consumers aren’t willing to spend that much on a casing material, So put yourself in the minority of a demographic that actually would spend _that_ much on a smart watch with the ceramic, when most retailers wouldn’t even carry that specific model in their store, let alone the stainless, simply because of the popular/cheapest model, which would be the aluminum. Rather you choosing to not purchase a Series 4 because it doesn’t offer ceramic, that’s your prerogative, but it doesn’t change the fact that consumers are attracted to that specific casing, when they don’t care about that or even understand the direct advantages, especially when all the Apple Watch models are operating the same watchOS.

The Hermès models are more exclusive, so you would likely have a higher resale value due to just the branding, the caveat being it would have to likely be sold online versus locally to achieve the the most amount of profit. Most consumers when opting for an Apple Watch used, probably would just opt for the aluminum if anything or they are not aware what the advantage would be to the Hermès model, but Hermes watches if you search eBay, that’s a decent value, and seem to sell rather quicker, because of a broader audience that’s looking for that _specific_ watch. My older stainless watch was kind of in a similar situation, where it sold instantly versus it took much longer locally.

So it’s not true, because it’s your own prerogative the Series 4 didn’t offer a ceramic casing? Gotcha. Not sure why you refute something without you literally having no evidence proving otherwise, it’s common knowledge, the ceramic is _not_ nearly as popular due to the exorbitant price point as the aluminum would be, simply because consumers aren’t willing to spend that much on a casing material, So put yourself in the minority of a demographic that actually would spend that much on a smart watch with the ceramic, when most retailers wouldn’t even carry that specific model in their store, let alone the stainless, simply because of the popular/cheapest model, which would be the aluminum.

Still not sure why people buy secondhand Hermès watches with used leather bands, that's just nasty.

I really hope that Apple goes back to the ceramic watch I love my series 3 edition but really wished my series 4 would have been ceramic to me it just seems more durable.

I agree. Especially when leather absorbs moisture/sweat, I would not want a secondhand band, let alone a used watch from someone. I personally would rather purchase new as my own preference.

Very good points. Would you also say it makes sense regardless of what the new features are on this new Watch, to sell my current one and put it towards the new 1?

I feel like if I can sell it and make a lot of the money back then I might as well get whatever new one releases. Because if I wait until next year, i’ll be getting less of a return.

Hope my wording makes sense Lol.

You are asking if you should sell your current Series 4 now to get the Series 5 in 7 months time (if it is released in the fall), just based on some rumours? I wouldn't personally, but if you can go without a watch that long, then totally up to you. Most people tend to sell a few weeks prior to the 'expected' media event, not 7 months.

Here’s what I would do. I would continue to use your Hermes Apple Watch like you normally would, and if you think you would be willing to upgrade to the Series 5 when that launches, and the rumored capabilities/features sound tempting to you, I would sell it sometime mid/late summer before Apples fall keynote. Why? Because once the keynote is here, the market will be saturated with used Apple Watches almost everywhere, and you will have those looking for ‘good deals’ on all the models. That way by selling before the keynote, you would achieve the maximum amount of profit for on the watch, and you wouldn’t be very far away from ordering the new one if it launches likely in September. The only thing we don’t know, is if a Series 5 is launching this fall or not.

So no heads-up about always-on display from Mr Kuo yet?

Recently I’ve been toying with the idea of getting an Apple Watch and lack of this feature is really killing it for me. Plus I’ve started wearing my other nice watches to decide whether I want to spend money on another one and I must say Apple Watch does not look as attractive in comparison (literally talking about appearance), especially given the current selection of available watch faces.

Lmao no I meant when the new 1 is close to releasing. It would be idiotic to sell it now. I usually sell my stuff a couple of weeks before the new 1 releases or around the launch date.

Sure, but the FDA also created a whole new category with a much easier approval process. If the regulatory agencies in other countries haven't also created such new categories, then approval will take much longer there as it does for all kinds of medical devices. There is little Apple can do about that aspect.

I can just see some government approving the series 5 for ECG use, but not the series 4, and Apple getting blamed.
