Word is, that Brady has his mind made up, so I would assume a team and him have agreed in principle.

Tom Brady is signing with Tampa Bay Bucs tomorrow! Hell yes!

Wow. That was Fast. I never would’ve guessed the Buccaneers, I thought he’d end up in California somewhere. This should be interesting.

A lot of the odds had the Bucs as the favorite to sign him. He wants a piece of that beautiful 90 degrees weather in the Bay.

Well, I can’t blame him. When I retire by 50 [I’m 33], I can tell you it will be in Fort Myers Beach near my timeshare, and Brady should want the warm weather after dealing with the bitter cold in New England after all those years.

The best part about this is, Tom has a couple more solid seasons left to be a top QB in the NFL. These are some good players around him!

QB: Brady
WR: Evans, Godwin
TE: Howard, Brate
RB: Jones

I think it will be very interesting to see how he actually does not being under his current coach. I know he is good, and I know he will hold his own, but I wonder how good he will actually be.

He will definitely be good, with those weapons and his football brain at the line pre-snap

The question is how good will the team be? Alot of the Patriots wins the last few years were won even before the teams took the field. Belichick is the best at game planning and outsmarting opponents.

Good gawd, my Texans need to get a real GM. O'Brien might be an okay coach, but he's terrible at wheeling and dealing. Who the hail trade a stud WR like "Nuk" Hopkins for a 2nd round pick? Yeah, we get David Johnson in the deal, but he pretty much sucked last season after a monster season. Nuk has been a stud since he entered the league even with garbage QB.
Spent 2 1st round pick on Tunsil, sent Clowney outta town for a 3rd rounder. Going out the sheer, coming back shorn.

Belichick and Brady worked as a team. Now we get to see if they can do it separated. Brady has something to prove that he doesn't need Bill. And Bill has to prove the same.

Agreed. It will be very interesting to see how the season unfolds for them both.

Looks like Gurley's time in LA is over.
Rams release running back Todd Gurley
Keeping him on the roster past 4 p.m. would have resulted in another $10.5 million in guarantees, and the Rams are clearly trying to cut their losses here.

They were reportedly shopping him around, but not surprising, no one wanted to embrace that large contract for a player that has serious health concerns.

In other running back news
Report: Melvin Gordon has no offers close to the one he turned down in 2019

Mike Garafolo said on NFL Network that Gordon hasn’t received “anything remotely close” to the offer he could have had with the Chargers last year, which Garafolo reports was worth around $10 million a year.

Looks like Gordon overestimated his value as RB and should have taken what the chargers offered, now they moved on and no one else is willing to come close to what the chargers offered, never mind getting more which was his hope.

I think Brady has more to prove. Belichick has already proven that the Pats can win without Brady (such as the season he tore his ACL), when a college backup (Cassell) served as QB.

I don't embrace Belichick, and he does push the limits of the rules (and some would say he oversteps them), but he's a master of putting together winning teams, with players who aren't superstars and some who are castoffs from other teams. And he's done it for so long.

Yes, having Brady in the most important position on the team has been a big part of that, but compare his surrounding casts to those of the other past dynasties, like the Cowboys, 49ers, and Steelers. Those teams were loaded with names you'd still remember today. Aside from Gronk, who stands out among Brady's teammates? Who's the Rice to Montana/Young, or the Smith to Aikman? And so on.

The special HBO did with Belichick/Saban is worth watching for their coaching prowess ("Do your job'), even if you don't consider either likeable.

I was thinking earlier today about Tom Brady signing with the Buccaneers, and what amazes me with him, isn’t so much that he still able to ‘play the game’ at his age, but he has the mentality/stature of a 22-year-old quarterback. Literally, I think that’s what carries him so far into his career, is that he doesn’t see himself as some ‘old guy’ who still playing quarterback, he sees/envisions himself as a younger Athlete that knows no boundaries, I think that’s really admirable when you look at Tom Brady not just as a quarterback, but as a person.

Age really is just a number, it’s your mental expression that carries you forward in terms of your outlook on life and certainly in professional sports, assuming you can continue without any injuries prohibiting you.

No it isn't. Age is really a measured progression of the body slowly dying. I'm not trying to be melodramatic but as a 55 year old man, I can tell you that age is not just a number. Yes his attitude and positive attitude will definitely help, but don't you think Payton Manning's attitude, and positive attitude were just as good, or Brett Farve?

From what little I know about Bruce Arien's offensive system, Brady is going to need to remain in the pocket and take some big hits. For a 22 year that's one thing for a 43 year old that's something completely different. I can tell you that it takes a 40 something a lot longer to recover from injuries and hits than a 22 year old.

Then there's the loss of muscle mass, older bodies lose muscle mass a lot quicker then younger bodies. Brady is fighting against his very body degrading, much like Payton did, though Payton's fall off was quite dramatic. Brady cannot win against father time. Will he have a successful year? Perhaps, but his time in the NFL is nearly over.

Man, it must really suck getting old, Huh Mike? 😁 [Yes, I have to Joke.]

I get what you’re saying. And I’m not 50, nor 40, I’m 33. So I can’t attribute what it’s like to being old at 55 (Yes, I consider 55 to be ‘old man status’ 😁). Now, I did comment earlier that if he does take a hit, he may not recover the way other athletes younger than him will, which will be interesting to see how long he lasts in the NFL in his age bracket moving forward. But I do believe that’s what carried Tom Brady so far, is that he doesn’t play the game like he’s ‘slowing down’, he sees Himself like he first did when he started with a younger mentality, that’s really the point I was indicating, which I think holds true in terms of why he is still playing today. Case in point.

you have no idea ;)

Preparing and increasing his preparedness certainly can help, just look at how Jerry Rice kept increasing his work ethic as he got older. He tried to stay ahead of father time but he slowed down to a degree that it was pretty evident Some point soon, Brady won't have the reflexes or arm strength to perform at a level that is needed. It happened to Eli Manning, his brother, and every other athlete. I have no idea how he'll do in TB, but one thing is sure the games behind him are far more numerous than the games in front of him

It's fun seeing all the off-season moves...but who here thinks the NFL is going to get to play a complete season, from exhibition games to the Super Bowl?

The more I read about Covid-19, herd immunity and the wait for a vaccine, the more I think Las Vegas should be setting an over/under on how many weeks' worth of games will actually get played.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic--I'd love to be wrong. But with a vaccine at least 18 months away, and mass distribution probably at least another six months beyond that, it looks like we'll see this disease sweep the country more than once. Groups of 70,000 people watching two 46-man active rosters colliding with each other every week are certainly not going to help.

Maybe we'll get a better idea of how this is going to go when/if baseball finally starts up.

Quick comparison/perspective:

Well, we know the NBA season is done for. Now that there’s been more contractions with other players, there’s No way Adam silver will reinstate this season, not to mention, the playoffs are slated to start soon, which throws everything off in terms of How everything would mesh together.

Back to the NFL season, the regular Seasonal start is a long ways away, preseason might be uncertain, but a lot can change in that timeframe. If anything, I could see the NFL maybe shortening the season schedule/delaying the initial start from September pending the control of the situation, but I wouldn’t completely rule out that we won’t have an NFL season either.

Agreed. I think the NFL will play, probably not a full season, but they will play.

So, no MLB games in 2020? MLS and NHL done for this season also? No NCAA football? When do team sports resume then? Is the XFL DOA?
