Any thoughts on the new 14-team playoff format with two added wildcards?

Combined with the 17-game season, getting the #1 seed and the only remaining bye in the playoffs is going to be more important than ever.

I think we will see some baseball this year, my guess is at most we'll see about 80 games.
Based on news reports I'm seeing, it looks like that's exactly what they're aiming for.

Agreed. I think the NFL will play, probably not a full season, but they will play.
I just saw the NFL announcement that they are expecting to have a normal season, with filled stadiums and everything.

I'm pretty sure they will play, but an 18-week season with packed crowds, and then playoffs all the way until February? I think they're dreaming.

The 18 week season starts next year. The only thing changing this year is the expanded playoffs.

Oh. Thanks for the correction. Even so, I don’t think they’re going to have a “normal” season. They’re already talking about this virus subsiding in the summer and coming back in the fall.

At this point I don't see them getting full season in. Goodell says he wants to play a full season even if it is delayed. I don't see how that is possible if the season is pushed back a month.

They will be lucky to start training camp in September.

I really don't think we see live sports until at least November.

There won’t be a preseason, (which is a complete waste of time anyways.)

My prediction, the NFL starts late-er [As in October...maybe] with a shortened season, but all of that is tentative pending how things continue to progress or regress.

It will be the worst NFL season since "scab football" from the Eighties.

The quality of play will be dreadful. A lot of players will be out of shape. Play calling will be questionable and a lot of coaches will make poor choices. There will be lots of injuries.

Rosters may be limited too.

The regular schedule would likely be the six divisional games (one home, one away versus each divisional opponent), plus maybe a couple of non-divisional games for an eight-game season. It might be better to schedule the two geographically closest non-divisional opponents rather than focus on assignments between two divisions (like NFC West vs. NFC North). That would minimize air travel for fans. The Niners would play the Raiders and Chargers. Giants vs. Jets, Steelers vs. Eagles, Cowboys vs. Texans, etc.

No television blackouts.

No bye week. One Monday Night Football game per week, the rest of the games on Sundays until December. No Thursday night games. Maybe no Cowboys and Lions games on Thanksgiving Day.

For the playoffs, no wild cards, no Pro Bowl. The eight divisional leaders will immediately go into the match play tournament.

I'll watch it but the whole season will have a big fat ugly asterisk tattooed across its forehead. The memes will be brutal.

The Falcons have released their new uniforms. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Wow, it's a shame the IATA airport code "PIE" isn't on this uniform!

Just kidding, the Bucs new unis are pretty nice.

Should I root for LAX or PIE? Neither one sounds particularly intimidating for an NFL franchise.

I’ve never been a fan of huge stripes around the shoulder or sleeve. Both teams’ uniforms limit that to a narrow band around the jersey’s arm opening. It’s a nice, clean look.

Atlanta got nice new uniforms. Tampa Bay got nice new uniforms.

The Browns got...old, old uniforms. 🙄

I hope they didn’t pay somebody to design these. All they had to do was look at a photograph from 1985 and copy that.

Stripes everywhere. On the helmet. (Fine.) Down the pants. (Okay.) On the sleeves. (Design clutter.) On the calves. (Stripe overload!!)

The only one that looks good is the color rush one on the right.

I knew they’d screw it up. 😖

There isn't much the Browns can do uniform wise. They are a dull franchise. Their name is Brown after all.

Oh, there are things they could have done. Take a close look at those Tampa Bay uniforms. Now change only three things:
  1. Remove the skull-and-swords logo
  2. Change anything red to orange
  3. Make the helmets metallic burnt orange instead of metallic taupe (or keep the 2014-2019 helmets)
And you'd have what I was hoping for. Not permanent throwback uniforms.

But most Browns fans are stodgy. They don't like change. There are still people longing for the stupid elf that looks like Mr. Mxyzptlk to make a comeback.

Edit: Oh, and the Chargers got it right, too. (That dark blue might be a problem, though, because sometimes lighting and misadjusted cameras will make it look purple.)

Those lightning bolts on the pants won't make you look like Barry Sanders...they'll make you look like Barry Allen. And that's arguably better. 😄

I like the uniforms for the most part. However the numbers on the sides of the helmet gotta go. They remind me of the Alabama helmets.
