Works perfectly fine for me flat on a desk. I only need to move my face to about a 30º angle overhead before I see the unlock animation.
Don’t know what head or iPhone you have. That doesn’t work. Instead I see my iPhone shake a little indicating Face ID sign in failure.

I literally have to move my phone every time I want to sign in. The only position that Face ID works on the desk for me is when the phone is sitting right in front of me, like where a keyboard is supposed to be.

Touch ID needs to come back BAD. Stupid of Apple to remove.

OK great.

Wow, so by perfectly fine you mean, not perfect at all, requiring you to MOVE your head (to a relatively specific angle) and overhead at that as well.

Sorry but that SUCKS.

The only time face id, lets say, 'works well' is when I'm already holding (and looking at) my phone. In this case it's even better than touchid becuase I don't need to move anything, not even my finger. Every other case is worse.
