I’ve always thought everything but the silver looks like a coating that would scratch off, which makes it look cheap to me. Prefer bare metal look always and every time.
They’re all anodized. You’re not going to see “bare metal” aluminum.

Anodising does scratch off if the scratch is deep enough. And raw aluminium underneath...
You’ll see scratches on any of them. oxidized aluminum next to anodized aluminum is still relatively apparent.

yes, the silver may show scratches a less than others IF you are prone to scratching up your MacBooks. It’s tough to do though, I’ve yet to have it happen.

but that wasn’t the point of my post.

I’d say get the color you like and take care of your expensive stuff. Or if you think that’s not feasible add a skin. I use a sleeve when in transit and my space gray 2015 rMB12 is pristine.

Yes, but only one doesn’t cheaply look like it.
You see it that way. I see it as boring with no panache.

Each to their own. Color choice is merely a matter of opinion.

All are anodized. All have a pretty tough surface, and all will show scratches if you dig in hard enough. Take care of your stuff though and they don't scratch.

The Bestskinever is an idea.. Thanks.. It seems like more people like Spary Gray so it can't be that bad, can it be?

Space gray is indeed nice, but after a bunch of SG devices a couple things bother me: 1) edges around ports tend to become shiny from wear; and 2) finger print smudges. Funny this stuff bothers me since I've only owned black cars my entire life...

2020 Macbook Air, What color are you getting? Space Gray or Sliver? I am debating to buy a Macbook Air or not but I am really stuck on the color so I thought to post a poll to see what others like or have?

EDIT: Also I am worried about scratches on the space gray and oily hands if that ever where to happen. I do like the Space gray a lot.

For people who had Space Gray for awhile can you put your input on scratches and oily hands?
Gold. 😀 But between silver and space gray I prefer space gray.

I like Space Gray for look, but I notice smudges and even palm sweat on my work space gray much more than my personal silver. Any guys rocking the gold?

I’ve got the Silver one since I see the Space Grey variant everywhere. Also better against dents and smudges.

I love the look of the space grey, but I just realised that my space grey iPads have had some discolouration right where the folio case hits the back when folded. So the colour does seem to rub off unfortunately and one of them I only have had for about 10-11 months.
So now I’m thinking that silver is the better option, but space grey looks so good!

The silver gets novelty points oddly enough even though it was only silver for so many years prior to options.

Just got the first small ding on my new MBA SpaceGrey. Don't know how this happened I took care of it all the time. The ding is on the side of my MBA at the lid the anodized color is still ok, so it seems the color holds up pretty well but the aluminum is soft as fu**

Other than my first white MacBook, every MacBook and MacBook Pro I have had since has been Silver. My next one will be Space Gray.

Space Gray Macs are nice. I prefer the color for professional settings (once we finally can return to our offices). The gold (a mix of the old gold and rose gold offerings) is distinctive, though.

Seeing the Space Gray color out there, it just doesn't 'read' as a Mac to me. It's nice, but not a big enough change from Silver... I'd like a completely black better I think.

There's something weird about these new Mac designs in Silver... I like that.
