How would a baseball bubble work? I can see it maybe for the playoffs and world series, but with teams all around the country, if you kept it regional you would still have a lot of teams in one place.

I think MLB would need a bubble in each region. That is still 10 teams in one place. There are 18 teams in the NBA bubble, but that's fewer people by far than 10 MLB teams. (not sure how MLS compares) Also, an NBA game takes about 2/3 as much time to play, so one arena can handle more games in a day. Seems like the bubble works well for basketball, but not as much for baseball. Games tied at the end of regulation is also potentially more of a scheduling issue for baseball, although the new rule should shorten extra inning games on average. I imagine the idea of bubbles was discussed, and maybe the best option for that would have been bubbles in New York, Chicago, and LA where there are two major league stadiums in close proximity. (Oakland/SF being another option for the West)

I couldn't find this thread last week, but now we've had 2 to post about. Tom Terriffic (Tom Seaver, "The franchise") passed away on Aug. 31. Best pitcher in Mets' history, near-unanimous induction to the HoF.

The second one that passed was Lou Brock, also in the Hall.

I saw the news about Seaver, but hadn’t heard about Brock. Both were terrific ball players and outstanding men away from the game.

Cubs' Alec Mills throws a no-hitter in Milwaukee. This is the first time a Cub and White Sox pitcher have a no-no in the same season. Mills got exactly 5 swings and misses from Brewers hitters. There were no spectacular defensive gems. I watched the game at home, of course.

I attended the only other no-hitter thrown at Miller Park (soon to be American Family Field). It was thrown by the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano, against the Houston Astros!

I'll be rooting for the Dodgers.
Next year (if the Cubs are not in it): Seattle, the only franchise to never appear in a WS.
