To spice it up they need special tyres tgat last 15 laps or so Max. Then you’d have some options on strategy. But the fact that it’s a one stopper does nothing for it.

Sad but true.

Still one of my top five favorite circuits.

Ferraris are the talk of the paddock so far after one day. Cool.

It‘s like the good old days, eh? 😏

I’ll be the first to admit I was surprised at their ability to put the power down so effectively. It made my day.

Both Mercedes seemed light on the rears IMO. Perhaps the adjustments Mercedes made after preseason testing to solve their rear downforce issues will make Monoco a compromise circuit for them?

Could be an mildly exciting race.

I like the fact the race goes to Monaco for the glitz and glamour but the race is usually rubbish. It’s a circuit that the technology has long outgrown unfortunately. The lack of overtaking and stop starting due to accidents is laborious to watch these days.
While all that may be true to some degree, or not, I still love this race.

Horner seemed a bit annoyed when talking about Mercedes wanting the FIA to look into it. It's not like Red Bull didn't immediately protest DAS last season or anything.....

Even though Monaco is far from a typical race circuit, surely what we've seen today is evidence that Lewis & Mercedes won't just run away with it this season.

Seventh is a dreadful result for Lewis. Maybe those that have written the season off after 4 races will finally wake up. Anything can happen.

And there's one way to ensure pole. Get yourself in front and then smash your car up to deny the others. lol

Ugh, such a bittersweet Pole for Maranello.

Leclerc should buy his mechanics each a new 2021 Roma for what they have to do tonight.

I doubt the gearbox will be ok. Will be 5 spots back. 😔

IMO, Monaco is an anomaly for Mercedes. I don’t think it represents anything past Monaco. Both were consistently faster through the tunnel.

Its more of a chassis issue and not getting it to rotate and put the power down on exit. I also think at this track the tires Pirelli brought were difficult to set up for some teams and perfect for others.

Monaco is honestly just a PR event these days.

Monaco has not necessarily given away who wins the rest of the season in prior years. It’s a specialty circuit where lots of luck is involved as well.

Well, maybe Singapore since they are similar and we have seen MB struggle there before. But I agree this is not a sign MB's dominance is waning.

Completely agree with the Singapore analogy. As I stated before I really think Mercedes simply could not setup their chassis to sync the front and back to rotate well due to the Pirelli compound this weekend. I fully expect them to be back to form on June 6th.

I’m really enjoying the progress of the Leclerc/Sainz Ferrari Program. Ferrari has always been my true love in F1, and I like Leclerc, but it’s very satisfying to see Sainz able to show his skill level in a car that can now compete for a win. I have a great deal of respect for Carlos.

Monaco is completely different from the rest of the season. But good to see a Ferrari out front for a change! With it being Monaco LeClerc has a good chance to turn that pole into a win. The crash didn’t look that bad so hopefully the gearbox is fine.

Fingers crossed it will be ok...
They say it is fine but I am still a little skeptical and keeping my fingers crossed.

That type of accident is aggravating and doesn't bode well for the race IMHO.

For me when I think of previous winners I don't recall that kind of goof, or loss of focus, so I have serious doubts as to whether he is mentally ready to win at Monaco.

Hopefully Sainz will find his way up to the front of the pack as well.
